Emotional Intelligence Development In Daniel Keyesâ Flowers For Algernon (1966): A Humanistic Psychological Approach
The study is focused on whole needs of the major character
from humanistic psychological perspective. The aim of the study is to show the human needs and emotional intelligence of Charlie Gordon in reaching his self- actualization.
The object of the research is a science fictional novel
entitled Flowers for Algernon (1966) by Daniel Keyes., in analyzing Flowers for Algernon novel, the writer uses qualitative method and humanistic psychology approach. The data sources consist of primary data and secondary data sources. The primary data source is the novel Flowers for Algernon itself and the secondary data sources are
the other sources related to the analysis such as the authorâs biography, books of literary theory of the object and issue. The method of the data collection is descriptive analysis. The result of the research demonstrates the following conclusions. Firstly, literary works and psychological phenomena therefore have the same object, human being. Second, Daniel Keyes views that self- actualized person is fulfillment in doing the best.
Third, Daniel Keyes pictures the experience and the struggle to achieve self- actualization by the major character. It shows that human will be motivated to attend his self- actualization after gratifying the lower needs (basic needs). A person will develop himself, to be what he wants to be and to reach the goal in life
Contribution Of Childhood To The Personality Development In Khaled Hosseiniâs And The Mountains Echoed (2013) : A Developmental Psychological Approach
The objectives of the study are to analyze the novel based on its structural elements and to analyze the novel based on Developmental psycological approach. This study is a qualitative study. The object of the study is Khaled Hosseiniâs And The Mountains Echoed novel published in 2013 in New York by Riverhead Books. The data sources are
divided into two, namely primary data source and secondary data source. The primary is the novel itself and the secondary data source is other sources related to
the analysis such as the author biography, books of literary theory and also psychology books, particulary related to developmental psychologycal books. The
method of data collection is library research. The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis.
Based on psychological analysis, it can be concluded that in this novel, the author illustrates a psychology phenomenon in which an individual is very much influenced by her childhood. It is necessary for her to find out the mystery in her past in order to cope with her present problem
Material Design Of English Textbook Bahasa Inggris SMA Kelas X To Develop Student's Communicative Competence Content Analysis

This research focuses on analyzing the competencies covered in each tasks and activities in Bahasa Inggris SMA Kelas X textbook. The objectives are to explain what linguistic competence, strategic competence, socio-cultural competence, actional competence, and discourse competence are shown in the tasks of English textbook Bahasa Inggris SMA Kelas X, to elaborate frequency of communicative competence are shown in the tasks of English textbook Bahasa Inggris SMA Kelas X, and to elaborate the dominant communicative competence in the tasks of English textbook Bahasa Inggris SMA Kelas X.
In achieving the objectives, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative as the type of the research. The data of this research was the tasks and activities of English textbook Bahasa Inggris SMA Kelas X. The data source of this research is Bahasa Inggris SMA Kelas X textbook published by Balitbang. In collecting the data the writer uses documentation. The technique for analyzing the data are classifying and describing the kinds of communicative competence, coding the data, scoring the data, counting the frequency and dominant of the competencies, and drawing conclusion.
From the result of analysis, it can be drawn some conclusions. Firstly, from 104 data there are 40 or 38.4% the tasks which designed to develop studentâs linguistic competence, 6 or 5.8% the tasks which designed to develop studentâs strategic competence, 8 or 7.7% the tasks which designed to develop studentâs socio-cultural competence, 33 or 31.7% the tasks which designed to develop studentâs actional competence, 17 or 16.3% the tasks which designed to develop studentâs discourse competence. Secondly, the dominant of each Communicative Competence is Linguistic Competence. Thirdly, this textbook was sufficient because there only linguistic and actional competence which available tasks to develop its competence in 70%. Therefore, it can be conclude that Bahasa Inggris SMA Kelas X textbook is sufficient to develop studentâs communicative competence.
