A numerical approach to robust in-line control of roll forming processes
The quality of roll formed products is known to be highly sensitive and dependent on the process parameters and thus the unavoidable variations of these parameters during mass production. To maintain a constant high product quality, a new roll former with an adjustable final roll forming stand is developed at Deakin University enabling the continuous compensation for possible shape defects. In this work, a numerical approach to robust in-line control of the roll forming of a V-section profile is presented, combining the aspects of robust process design and in-line compensation methods. A numerical study is performed to determine the relationship between controllable process settings and uncontrollable variation of incoming material properties with respect to the common product defects longitudinal bow and springback. The computationally expensive non-linear FE simulations used in this study are subsequently replaced by metamod-els based on efficient Single Response Surfaces. Using these metamodels, the optimal setting for the adjustable stand is determined with robust optimization techniques and the effect on product quality analyzed. It is shown that the subsequent adjustment of the final roll stand position leads to a significantly improved product quality by preventing product defects and minimizing the deteriorating effects of scattering variables
A Large Scale Dataset for the Evaluation of Ontology Matching Systems
Recently, the number of ontology matching techniques and systems has increased significantly. This makes the issue of their evaluation and comparison more severe. One of the challenges of the ontology matching evaluation is in building large scale evaluation datasets. In fact, the number of possible correspondences between two ontologies grows quadratically with respect to the numbers of entities in these ontologies. This often makes the manual construction of the evaluation datasets demanding to the point of being infeasible for large scale matching tasks. In this paper we present an ontology matching evaluation dataset composed of thousands of matching tasks, called TaxME2. It was built semi-automatically out of the Google, Yahoo and Looksmart web directories. We evaluated TaxME2 by exploiting the results of almost two dozen of state of the art ontology matching systems. The experiments indicate that the dataset possesses the desired key properties, namely it is error-free, incremental, discriminative, monotonic, and hard for the state of the art ontology matching systems. Conductance Quantization and Magnetoresistance in Magnetic Point Contacts
We theoretically study the electron transport through a magnetic point
contact (PC) with special attention to the effect of an atomic scale domain
wall (DW). The spin precession of a conduction electron is forbidden in such an
atomic scale DW and the sequence of quantized conductances depends on the
relative orientation of magnetizations between left and right electrodes. The
magnetoresistance is strongly enhanced for the narrow PC and oscillates with

Formation of star tracking reticles
The present application is directed towards a process for producing high resolution, substantially non-reflective reticles or choppers suitable for use for transmitting in both the visible and near ultra-violet regions, able to withstand reasonable handling and extreme environmental conditions, and capable of operating at speeds of from 2800 to about 9000 revolutions per minute without distortion. In particular, the present invention is directed towards the production or reticles having a quartz base vacuum coated with chromium, chromium-silver alloy, and silver with electrodeposited copper and black chromium thereon, respectively, in the form of a reticle pattern. The quartz permits the transmission of light while the pattern is opaque to light. The reticles of the present invention are intended for use in optical trackers, such as star trackers used in outer space
It Takes (Only) Two: Adversarial Generator-Encoder Networks
We present a new autoencoder-type architecture that is trainable in an
unsupervised mode, sustains both generation and inference, and has the quality
of conditional and unconditional samples boosted by adversarial learning.
Unlike previous hybrids of autoencoders and adversarial networks, the
adversarial game in our approach is set up directly between the encoder and the
generator, and no external mappings are trained in the process of learning. The
game objective compares the divergences of each of the real and the generated
data distributions with the prior distribution in the latent space. We show
that direct generator-vs-encoder game leads to a tight coupling of the two
components, resulting in samples and reconstructions of a comparable quality to
some recently-proposed more complex architectures
Enhancement of long-range magnetic order by magnetic field in superconducting La2CuO(4+y)
We report a detailed study, using neutron scattering, transport and
magnetization measurements, of the interplay between superconducting (SC) and
spin density wave (SDW) order in La2CuO(4+y). Both kinds of order set in below
the same critical temperature. However, the SDW order grows with applied
magnetic field, whereas SC order is suppressed. Most importantly, the field
dependence of the SDW Bragg peak intensity has a cusp at zero field, as
predicted by a recent theory of competing SDW and SC order. This leads us to
conclude that there is a repulsive coupling between the two order parameters.
The question of whether the two kinds of order coexist or microscopically phase
