Narrative Analysis of Marketing Communication Y2K Music School and Studio on Social Media

This research was conducted to find out how the branding activity done by Y2K Music School and Studio through social media account Instagram @ y2kstudio. This research would like to examine more deeply related to marketing activity such as what applied Y2K Music School and Studio in building brand Y2K Music School and Studio as a music school through its official Instagram. There is also a method used in this research is a method of narrative analysis which is a method in the field of qualitative research. The data were collected using literature study on textbooks, online data tracking, and in-depth interviews on key informants related to the study. The results of this study states that the form of branding activities conducted by Y2K Music School and Studio through social media accounts Instagram @ y2kstudio is a marketing communication in the form of delivering information with positive ambiance related Y2K Music School and Studio and also in the form of information delivery activities related promotions which is currently running at Y2K Music School and Studio

Was Y2K behind the business investment boom and bust?

During the latter part of the 1990s, U.S. economic growth was boosted by sizable increases in business purchases of information processing equipment and software, otherwise known as high-tech capital goods. Beginning in 2000, though, firms began to curtail these expenditures; by 2001, high-tech and other forms of business investment were falling sharply. Indeed, much of the downturn in the growth of U.S. economic activity can be traced to the sharp decline in investment spending. Several explanations have been offered, from the acceleration in labor productivity—the so-called “New Economy” story—to the stock market surge and subsequent collapse. One explanation that has not been explored in much detail is the surge in business purchases of hardware and software in preparation for the century date change (Y2K). Because many information processing systems and much of the hardware and software were not Y2K compliant as late as 1998, it was thought that business investment in high-tech equipment and software would increase appreciably to fix this problem. As the millenium draws to an end, the threat posed by the Year 2000 (Y2K) problem is inducing vast private and public spending on its remediation. In this paper, we embed the Y2K problem into a dynamic general equilibrium framework. We model the Y2K problem as an anticipated, permanent loss to output whose magnitude can be lessened by investing resources in advance. Our model replicates three observed characteristics of the dynamics triggered by the Y2K bug: (1) Precautionary investment: investment in solving the Y2K problem begins before the year 2000; (2) Investment delay: although economic agents have been aware of the Y2K problem since the 1960s, investment did not begin until recently; (3) Investment acceleration: as the new millenium approaches, the amount of resources allocated to solving the Y2K problem increases. The Sky is Falling (or is it?): International Contracts and the Y2K Problem

Y2K problems at this point in time are reasonably foreseeable due to the amount of attention given the subject. Contracting parties should examine potential Y2K problems arising internally and address them before January 1, 2000. Yet the extent of Y2K problems, be they widespread or solitary occurrences, remains unforeseeable and unpredictable. Even those parties having adequately addressed internal Y2K problems can experience difficulties due to external parties having failed to become Y2K-compliant. This second tier of unforeseeability supports the use of excused performance, but the first tier foreseeability that Y2K problems potentially exist prevent viable use of the defense. In this sense, this Article suggests that Y2K problems are both foreseeable and unforeseeable and that a defense more suitable than contractual excuse be available to those parties acting to prevent Y2K difficulties. In the same vein, this Article recognizes the plight of those parties that have acted in a timely and prudent manner to avert Y2K difficulties. Due to the interactive and interdependent nature of the domestic and global economy, such parties remain at the mercy of numerous third parties. This vulnerability is a necessary element of intranational and international relations, but it may prove imminently debilitating should contract performance depend on those numerous third parties. Because such a web of interrelationships has developed over the centuries, and because the interrelationships prove vital to performance of many contracts, the focus of Y2K issues should be societal, not individual. Contract law\u27s foundation is on autonomous individual[s] while tort law acknowledges those situations where accidents result from interactive activities. Y2K complications may disrupt numerous facets of commercial and societal intercourse, many of which are utterly outside the realm of a contracting party\u27s control. Year 2000: A Reality Check

The paper examines the risks, cost, size, implications, and likely outcomes of the Year 2000 or Y2K Problem, as well as the lessons learned, opportunities, and silver linings of Y2K projects. The MIS academic community has largely missed a unique opportunity to be relevant to practitioners as well as our communities. Fortunately, it is not too late since knowledgeable and rational voices are needed to help communities, and the people and enterprises in them, intelligently deal with the challenges of Y2K. Strangely, in spite of billions of bytes of data about year 2000 problem appearing each week, we still know surprisingly little about the reality of the Y2K risks we face. And there is little chance that a complete assessment of even the greatest risks faced by our enterprises and communities can be made, let alone repairs completed. Then there are the global risks of Y2K, and the thorny fact that most Y2K risks are beyond our direct control anyway. So what can ethical, conscientious, and concerned MIS professionals do about this situation? How can we help our communities reduce risks, appropriately plan for contingencies, and quickly manage failures? With only a few months to go, this may be the last chance we have to be relevant, enhance our collective credibility, and genuinely help improve IS practices

ANALISIS PREFERENSI GAYA DESAIN Y2K PADA VISUAL DESAIN KONTEN INSTAGRAM @POPBELA_COM

Penelitian ini berfokus pada preferensi gaya desain Y2K yang diterapkan dalam konsep desain visual konten Instagram Popbela.com tahun 2023. Gaya desain Y2K merupakan gaya desain yang populer tahun 1994-2005 dan kembali populer di tahun 2020-an. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan formalistik. Tahap dalam penelitian ini yaitu membandingkan konsep desain visual konten Instagram Popbela.com tahun 2022 dan 2023, kemudian menganalisis elemen visual yang terdapat pada desain konten visual Instagram Popbela.com tahun 2023. Hasil analisis tersebut digunakan untuk menentukan preferensi gaya desain Y2K yang diterapkan pada konsep desain konten visual di Instagram.
