Effect of Women Empowerment on Family Life: Perception of Husband and Wife

Women empowerment is considered as the powerhouse of global development. This study attempted to explore the perception of husband and wife regarding the effects of women empowerment on family life. The research was conducted at three upazila of Khulna district, Bangladesh. Data were collected from purposively selected ninety (90) respondents using a structured questionnaire during January 2023. The focus variable named as effect of women empowerment on family life was measured using a 5-point rating scale. Results indicated that, education is the key factor of enhancing women empowerment. The findings exposed that almost two-third (64.4%) of the male respondents perceived medium effect of women empowerment on family life while majority of the female counterparts (60%) perceived high effect respectively. However, majority (95.6%) of the male respondents opined that women empowerment generate more income to the family whereas most (98.3%) of the female respondents agreed that women empowerment is very effective in giving decision making power. It was found that respondents’ age, educational qualification, organizational participation, training exposure, cosmopolitanism, knowledge, and attitude demonstrate significant relationship with the focus variable. It is high time to change our attitude towards women empowerment for overall development of the world

Gender empowerment in microfinance

In this paper we argue that the promotion of women in microfinance initiatives and the bias against men is taking place in the absence of solid empirical evidence on the effects of this approach in the balance of powers in households and on the health, education and well-being of all household members. We hold these to be key aspects of development. We further argue that this issue deserves further empirical attention given the possibility of unforeseen outcomes that run counter to the goal to encourage microfinance to promote women empowerment and economic development.Microfinance; Gender; Frictions; Women Empowerment

Food Production; Can it be Used as a Tool in Empowerment of Rural Women? A Case Study from Turkey

This study contains the basics on certain problems that food producing-as an earning activity that is used empowerment of women- face in rural areas and some advice on how those difficulties could be overcome. The results of “Winpeace” project are evaluated from the point of view of women empowerment and food production. After the project, women faced several problems. Those problems are negotiated by the help of the strength and weaknesses in the presence head of the cooperative. The Impact of Women Empowerment on Their Lives: Bangladesh Context

Women empowerment is the most common phenomena not only Bangladesh but also across the whole world. Women are encouraged to see and bring forth the beauty and strength within themselves, to be inspired to be the best they can be and let their spirit shine through. Most of the researches have been done about women empowerment. But this research paper is trying to find out the present scenario of women empowerment in Bangladesh. This study also focuses on those problems which are associated with women empowerment. The study conducted 10 sample units (of Dhaka City) to find out the problems. This study concludes that, Bangladesh has a huge success in women empowerment but there also be some problems associated with it. This study suggested that, some problems can be solved from government level; some are solved by our business organization. An Empirical Analysis of Women Empowerment within Muslim Community in Murshidabad District of West Bengal, India

Women empowerment is a contemporary issue for developing countries like India. The rates of women empowerment are in a vulnerable condition within the largest Muslim minority community of India. In this paper, an attempt has been taken to present an empirical analysis of Muslim women empowerment within purposively selected Murshidabad district of West Bengal regarding the highest concentration of Muslim people (63.67%) all over the country. For showing the multidimensional aspects of women empowerment, a Cumulative Empowerment Index (CEI) has been constructed using 22 key indicators that act as explained variables covering four dimension of women empowerment, i.e. control over economic resources, control over household decision making, women’s mobility and political awareness. Nine explanatory (independent) variables have also been selected as determinants of women empowerment (CEI). Based on the multiple regression results the study finds statistically significant impact of accessing any type of media, family structure, family headship, household income, paid work and duration of marital life on Cumulative Empowerment Index of Muslim women at the study area. It concludes that active participation of GO’s and local NGO’s in bringing change of traditional beliefs of Muslim family and gaining awareness about women’s rights and practices can accelerate the women empowerment process within Muslim community of Murshidabad district. Gender based analysis of selected tobacco control programs in Pakistan

Current tobacco programs in Pakistan are not gender sensitive. This study provides analysis of current ordinances and relevant tobacco control programs undertaken by the Government of Pakistan; analyzes their effectiveness from the gendered point of view; and filters out weaknesses and loopholes in three pertinent sections in the ordinances where a gender sensitive approach needs to be developed so as to effectively implement FCTC in Pakistan. A comprehensive tobacco control policy and program should be undertaken by the government, based on a thorough research programme

Woman Empowerment and Household Income in Kira Municipality, Uganda

The empowerment of women is crucial for the development of a nation .This study is about women empowerment and household income in Kira Municipality of Uganda. The objectives were to establish the strategies of women empowerment, the effect of women empowerment on household income and the challenges to women empowerment. We adopted a cross-sectional survey design, considering a sample size of 72 respondents who were randomly sampled. Findings revealed that strategies for women empowerment included women being encouraged to join group saving groups. It was revealed that women were not adequately trained as dispute settlers, linkers, motivators, facilitators, and negotiators to help implement women empowerment projects in as far as empowering them was concerned. Regarding the impact of women empowerment, findings revealed that skills have been enhanced through training received from women empowerment implementers and programs have reduced employment among these women through skills attained. However, key challenges to women empowerment emerged including but not limited to There is inadequate finance and inappropriate funding of activities, limited access to credit sources to expand our activities, poorly trained community projects facilitators and unnecessary hinder project activities and political interests which affect women group leadership such as interference from community political forces. It is recommended that more efforts should be put to economic empowerment as a process of increasing women’s access to economic resources and opportunities including jobs, financial services, property and other productive assets, skills development and market information. Lastly women should be encouraged to participate in enterprise activities to gain a greater economic role in decision-making. Women Empowerment as A Catalyst for Sustainable Development in Nigeria: Adult Education as A Tool

Nigerian society allows men to dominate women with the belief that domestic roles in the society must be carried out by women. This often results into their marginalization and oppression but this has witnessed changes in the contemporary society through women empowerment. The study examined women empowerment and sustainable development among para-military officers wives association in Nigeria. The study answers research question that women empowerment has effect on sustainable development. Data used for this study were primary sources of data. The data were analyzed using frequency tables, percentages and correlational table. The study was conducted using some selected para-military officers wives association (Police Officers Wives Association [POWA] and Road Safety Officers Wives Association [ROSOWA]) in Oyo State, Nigeria. The study found out that women empowerment has positive effect in the society, women empowerment has positive effect on sustainable development and positive relationship exists between women empowerment and sustainable development. The study recommend that education should therefore be seen as a tool for empowering women because empowered women will contribute meaningfully to the development of their society.
