Towards a Data-driven Performance Management in Digital Shop Floor Management
Key performance indicators (KPIs) are crucial for measuring and managing the performance of industrial processes. They are used to detect deviations in processes, enabling opportunities to improve manufacturing processes within the three dimensions time, quality, and cost. In this context, the timeliness of information plays a decisive role in the success of measures since delayed information availability can leave decision makers with no time to react. With the introduction of digitization and industry 4.0, increasing amounts of data become available. They can be used to accelerate problem detection and shortening reaction times to define appropriate actions. This paper presents a data-driven performance management approach integrated in digital shop floor management (dSFM). If a deviation is detected in one process, KPIs of subsequent processes (horizontal level) as well as subordinate levels (vertical level) are checked for correlations and, if present, the associated team is notified by an automatic warning through the dSFM system. Based on the identified correlations, the team discusses the deviations and defines suitable countermeasures. The aim of this approach is to identify deviations more quickly and to quantify their impacts, thus giving shop floor managers the ability to react in time

In this sense, it is proposed a MAS-based model to support the solution of nonconformance problems in manufacturing processes in order to overcome the difficulties related to both the nature of knowledge and on its distribution. The distribution adopted in the model considers both the geographical aspect of the sources and the fragmentation related to existing processes in the production chain. From this perspective, agents were developed whose behavior includes the use of case-based reasoning and retrieval methods based on ontologies. Finally, a software prototype was developed to allow the verification and validation of the proposed model, and the foundations of knowledge manipulated by the system are instantiated with knowledge in the field of the aluminum extrusion process obtained from the literature and from a company that manufactures parts via aluminum extrusion, with emphasis on the 60xx alloy
On the usage of theories in the field of Wirtschaftsinformatik : a quantitative literature analysis
The development of theories is a central goal of every scientific discipline. Hence, theory development is also of considerable importance to the field of Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI), which seeks to progress as a scientific discipline. WI is the discipline focussing on research and design of information systems conducted by the German-speaking community. WI has slightly different objectives, focusses on different methods and different desired results compared to the Anglo-American Information Systems (IS) research discipline. Although both disciplines deal with information systems as their main research object, Mertens et al. (2014) propose to consider both disciplines as halfsister disciplines (in German: Halbschwesterdisziplinen). Against the background of the growing importance of theory development in WI, a lot of WI research contributions use and reference existing theories and theoretical models for different purposes, e.g. to derive and test hypotheses or to justify design decisions in the context of information systemsâ design and development. Often, these theories originate from related scientific disciplines like economics or psychology. However, as it is still not clear which theories are of particular importance to WI research, this report aims at presenting a detailed analysis of the current usage of theories in WI and addresses the following research questions: Which theories are used in WI research and where do they originate from? and How has the usage of theories developed over time? These questions were examined based on a systematic analysis of a broad amount of scientific literature. Thus, this report is supposed to make a contribution to the ongoing discussion on the theoretical foundations of WI. Our analysis shows that 1,160 WI articles from 2000 to 2011 do, in large part, reference the same theories as Anglo-American Information Systems (IS) research. These findings are discussed and implications are highlighted
Objectification of willingness to cooperate using the example of a lane change in the low speed range
LösungsvorschlĂ€ge in
The increasing automation of vehicles promises many advantages, such as reduction of emissions or increased
comfort. The public's expectations of automated driving are high. However, concerns and fears still remain.
One challenge that is particularly important in the transition phase to autonomous driving is communication
in mixed traffic between human and automated vehicles. A solution must be found to this challenge so that the
automated vehicle is understood and accepted by the surrounding road users. The question of how to deal with
such situations has already been raised by several authors. Suggestions for solutions in the development of
driving strategies go in the direction of cooperative driving, but do not shed enough light on the psychological
component, concerning the informal active communication between people, but also the attribution during the interaction.
This paper provides an interdisciplinary approach. The aim is to give recommendations for action for the design of a
behavior oriented driving strategy based on psychological findings and theories. One use case that is one of the most
complex scenarios on the highway and requires an increased degree of coordinated alignment between drivers, is a lane
change scenario in a low speed range. This was examined in three studies in the driving simulator from a merging and
car following perspective. The first step was to investigate how people communicate with each other in such a situation
and how this was perceived from the perspective of the cut in vehicle and the lag driver. In this context, it was analyzed
in more detail what constitutes unambiguous and cooperative communication and how this can be objectified on the basis of
driving parameters. In a second step, the results for the application in question were integrated into the existing traffic
simulation in the form of a new brake and lane change algorithm and compared with the original strategies in the driving simulator.
This time the focus was on the interaction between human and autonomous vehicles. It turned out that the newly developed strategies
were better evaluated. These studies underline the importance and necessity to consider psychological aspects in the development
of algorithms in order to create higher traffic safety and acceptance in the population
