The Modified Node Voltage Method as Tool for Calculation of Network Functions and Sensitivities

    Get PDF
The paper deals with the well-known modified node voltage method that is generally used for formulation of system equations in universal network simulation programs. It shows very efficient ways if utilizing this type of equation formulation for evaluation of network transfer functions and their sensitivities to variations of element parameters. The described procedures can be used very effectively namely in connection with some matrix oriented mathematical program like for instance MATLAB. Several illustrative examples support the explanation of the methods described in the paper

Simulation of "Tsunami Waves" Propagating along Non-Linear Transmission Lines

    Get PDF
The paper compares three methods for computer simulation of transients on transmission lines with losses and nonlinear behavior, namely distributed LC model, FDTD (Finite-Difference Time-Domain) method, and a new and very effective Method of Slices. The losses are responsible for attenuation and shape changes of the waves as function of time and distance from the source. Special behavior of the line due to voltage-dependent capacitance of the line is considered in detail. The non-linear nature of the line causes that the higher is the voltage the higher is the velocity of propagation. Then, the waves tend to tilt over so that their top moves faster than their base. As a result "tsunami waves" are created on the line. Fundamental algorithms are presented in Matlab language. Several typical situations are solved as an illustration of individual methods

Dále popisuji ovládání a funkcnost aplikace. V záveru jsou zhodnoceny dosažené výsledky a popsány další možné smery vývoje programu. The main purpose of my bachelor's thesis was to create the chess computer game software with graphic user interface and to design and develop an algorithm of chess computer with learning ability. It was also necessary to create an interface to the board games manager. In the first part of my work I present the chess game rules and already existing chess game software and specialised chess computers. The next part discusses the mini-max algorithm and other derived algorithms and their possible improvements. The main part of the work deals in description of design and realization of the developed application. The user interface and functionality of the application is also described. In the conclusion the achieved results are summarized and the possible directions of further development of the application are described.

The study of human venous system dynamics using hybrid computer modeling

    Get PDF
A computer-based model of the cardiovascular system was created emphasizing effects on the systemic venous system. Certain physiological aspects were emphasized: effects of heart rate, tilting, changes in respiration, and leg muscular contractions. The results from the model showed close correlation with findings previously reported in the literature

Parenting ‘gifted and talented’ children in urban areas: Parents' voices

This is the author's accepted manuscript. The final published article is available from the link below. Copyright © 2014 by SAGE Publications.International evidence demonstrates the importance of engaging parents in the education of their ‘high-potential’ children, yet limited research has focused on the involvement of parents from differing economic strata/backgrounds. The current study explored the dilemmas of parenting academically high-ability children from economically deprived urban areas in the UK. Data were gathered from a sample of parents whose children attended a university-based sustained intervention programme for designated ‘gifted’ pupils aged 12–16. Parental perceptions were sought in relation to (a) the usefulness/impact of the intervention programme, (b) parents’ aspirations for their children growing up in economically deprived urban areas and (c) parents’ views on the support provided by the extended family, peer groups and the wider community. The findings have significant implications for both policy and practice and, more specifically, for engaging parents in intervention programmes offered by universities and schools to children in order to increase their access to higher education and for enhancing their life chances

The objective of this work is to show the history of the waltz , its origin and influence of Western Europe to Southern Europe as well as their export Transatlantic to South America . We intend to show the interest of these composers , writing this classical musical form which began to be very touched and danced the Viennese salons by the elite of the century. XVIII and XIX. We also wanted to show the influence of the propellants of this musical form , such as Strauss , Anton Diabelli , Mozart , Beethoven and Carl Maria von Weber family, and why the need for this kind of writing be extended to the guitar , since waltz was initially played by chamber music groups and orchestras . We proceed thus to a search of repertoire and recordings with the works in question . After further knowledge of these works , their beauty as a work of art and the emergence of some issues and peculiar to each composer, conclusions decided to choose this topic
