The appraisal of sustainable materials
This paper seeks to understand how users appraise and perceive sustainable material s . Using th inking aloud sessions , appraisals of sustainable materials embodied in commercial products were collected from users and categorised . To account for the appraisal of systemic features of materials w e have extended a previous categorisation of material appraisals . We have also investigated the relationships between the appraisal themes of sustainable materials . The results stress the influence of material origin in the appraisal. This understanding is useful to facilitate the uptake of the materials
telas do VP TICÊ.
The crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic affected supply chains for practically all
production processes, at a global level, and, especially, in the demand for medical and hospital
products. In order to collaborate with the offer of Mechanical Ventilators for COVID-19
intensive care beds in Brazil, the Research Group on Innovation, Projects and Processes
(GPIPP) at the University of Brasília (UnB) in partnership with other institutions started a
development project of a low-cost pulmonary ventilator with volume and pressure control
systems and adapted to the sanitary conditions for COVID-19 patients, called the TICÊ
Pulmonary Ventilator (PV). The present study aims to model, based on the literature in areas
of Product Development Process, Unified Modeling Language and User Experience Design, a
methodology for developing the VP interface screen and applying it in a case study with the
objective of generating prototypes of the VP TICÊ screens. The methodology encompasses
phases of planning, specification, design, prototyping and testing, and validation. As a result of
applying the methodology, four screens of the interface were created. For future work, such
prototypes must go through the testing and validation phases to be effectively implemented in
the Lung Ventilator
