Two-Dimensional Characterization and Simplified Simulation Procedure for Tunnel Magnetoresistive Angle Sensors

    No full text
A method and a measurement setup is described, that is suitable for the rapid characterization and simple modeling of magnetic sensor components for automotive electronics. We apply the the two-dimensional characteristic diagram method for recent angle sensors. This method is already known for incremental speed sensors [1]–[4]. The base of data ac- quisition for the characteristic diagram is an automated scanning procedure with cross-coil-setup. We improve the usable range of the cross-coil-setup by optimized coil shape. Furthermore the two-dimensional excitation with magnetic field components H x and H y is adapted to the field rotation of angle sensors. Two examples with recently launched sensor products based on the promising tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) effect show how this method can be used to effectively support development work, such as the design of the moving permanent magnet, the mechanical design or a tolerance test
