This study proposes a hybrid of Non-photorealistic Rendering techniques. Nonphotorealistic Rendering (NPR) covers one part in computer graphics that caters towards generating many kinds of 2D digital art style from 3D data, for instance output that looks like painting and drawing. NPR includes the painterly, interpretative, expressive and artistic styles, among others. NPR research deal with different issues such as the stylization that are driven by human perception, the science and art that were brought together and being harmonized with techniques used. Some of approaches used in NPR were discussed such as cartoon rendering, watercolour painting, silhouette rendering, penand- ink illustration and so on. A plan for hybridization of NPR techniques is proposed between silhouette rendering techniques and pen-and-ink illustration for this study. The integration process of these rendering techniques takes on the lighting mapping and also the construction of colour region of the model in order to ensure the pen-and-ink illustration texture can be implemented into the object. The evaluation process is based on the visualization of the image from the hybridization process. Based on findings, the hybridization of NPR technique was able to create interesting results and considered as an alternative in producing new variety of visualization image in NPR

This study gives an overview on the advantages of Curculigo Latifolia as an alternative sweetener and a health product. The purpose of this research is to provide another option to the people who suffer from diabetes. In this research, Curculigo Latifolia was chosen, due to its unique properties and widely known species in Malaysia. In order to obtain the sweet protein from the fruit, it must go through a couple of procedures. First we harvested the fruits from the Curculigo trees that grow wildly in the garden. Next, the Curculigo fruits were dried in the oven at 50 0C for 3 days. Finally, the dried fruits were blended in order to get a fine powder. Curculin is a sweet protein with a taste-modifying activity of converting sourness to sweetness. The curculin content from the sample shown are directly proportional to the mass of the Curculigo fine powder. While the FTIR result shows that the sample spectrum at peak 1634 cm–1 contains secondary amines. At peak 3307 cm–1 contains alkynes

Artificial intelligence (AI) is simply a way of providing a computer or a machine to think intelligently like human beings. Since human intelligence is a complex abstraction, scientists have only recently began to understand and make certain assumptions on how people think and to apply these assumptions in order to design AI programs. It is a vast knowledge base discipline that covers reasoning, machine learning, planning, intelligent search, and perception building. Traditional AI had the limitations to meet the increasing demand of search, optimization, and machine learning in the areas of large, biological, and commercial database information systems and management of factory automation for different industries such as power, automobile, aerospace, and chemical plants. The drawbacks of classical AI became more pronounced due to successive failures of the decade long Japanese project on fifth generation computing machines. The limitation of traditional AI gave rise to development of new computational methods in various applications of engineering and management problems. As a result, these computational techniques emerged as a new discipline called computational intelligence (CI)

Ensuring patients privacy in a cryptographic-based-electronic health records using bio-cryptography

Several recent works have proposed and implemented cryptography as a means to preserve privacy and security of patients health data. Nevertheless, the weakest point of electronic health record (EHR) systems that relied on these cryptographic schemes is key management. Thus, this paper presents the development of privacy and security system for cryptography-based-EHR by taking advantage of the uniqueness of fingerprint and iris characteristic features to secure cryptographic keys in a bio-cryptography framework. The results of the system evaluation showed significant improvements in terms of time efficiency of this approach to cryptographic-based-EHR. Both the fuzzy vault and fuzzy commitment demonstrated false acceptance rate (FAR) of 0%, which reduces the likelihood of imposters gaining successful access to the keys protecting patients protected health information. This result also justifies the feasibility of implementing fuzzy key binding scheme in real applications, especially fuzzy vault which demonstrated a better performance during key reconstruction

Enaction and Visual Arts : Towards Dynamic Instrumental Visual Arts

    No full text
International audienceThis paper is a theoretical paper that presents how the concept of Enaction, centerd on action and interaction paradigm, coupled with the new properties of the contemporary computer tools is able to provoke deep changes in arts. It examines how this concept accompanies the historical trends in Musical, Visual and Choreographic Arts. It enumerates the new correlated fundamental questions, scientific as well as artistic, the author identifies. After that, it focuses on Dynamic Visual Arts, trying to elicit the revolution brought by these deep conceptual and technological changes. It assumes that the contemporary conditions shift the art of visual motion from a ''Kinema'' to a ''Dyname'', allowing artists ''to play images'' as ''to play violin'', and that this shift could not appear before our era. It illustrates these new historical possibilities by some examples developed by the scientific and artistic works of the author and her co- workers. In conclusion, it assumes that this shift could open the door to a new genuine connection between arts that believed to cooperate but that remained separated during ages: music, dance and animation. This possible new ALLIANCE could lead the society to consider a new type of arts, we want to call ''Dynamic Instrumental Arts'', which will be really multisensorial: simultaneously Musical, Gestural and Visual

Edge-Aware Spatial Denoising Filtering Based on a Psychological Model of Stimulus Similarity

Noise reduction is a fundamental operation in image quality enhancement. In recent years, a large body of techniques at the crossroads of statistics and functional analysis have been developed to minimize the blurring artifact introduced in the denoising process. Recent studies focus on edge-aware filters due to their tendency to preserve image structures. In this study, we adopt a psychological model of similarity based on Shepard’s generalization law and introduce a new signal-dependent window selection technique. Such a focus is warranted because blurring is essentially a cognitive act related to the human perception of physical stimuli (pixels). The proposed windowing technique can be used to implement a wide range of edge-aware spatial denoising filters, thereby transforming them into nonlocal filters. We employ simulations using both synthetic and real image samples to evaluate the performance of the proposed method by quantifying the enhancement in the signal strength, noise suppression, and structural preservation measured in terms of the Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), Mean Square Error (MSE), and Structural Similarity (SSIM) index, respectively. In our experiments, we observe that incorporating the proposed windowing technique in the design of mean, median, and nonlocalmeans filters substantially reduces the MSE while simultaneously increasing the PSNR and the SSIM
