Cascading Behavior in Large Blog Graphs
How do blogs cite and influence each other? How do such links evolve? Does
the popularity of old blog posts drop exponentially with time? These are some
of the questions that we address in this work. Our goal is to build a model
that generates realistic cascades, so that it can help us with link prediction
and outlier detection.
Blogs (weblogs) have become an important medium of information because of
their timely publication, ease of use, and wide availability. In fact, they
often make headlines, by discussing and discovering evidence about political
events and facts. Often blogs link to one another, creating a publicly
available record of how information and influence spreads through an underlying
social network. Aggregating links from several blog posts creates a directed
graph which we analyze to discover the patterns of information propagation in
blogspace, and thereby understand the underlying social network. Not only are
blogs interesting on their own merit, but our analysis also sheds light on how
rumors, viruses, and ideas propagate over social and computer networks.
Here we report some surprising findings of the blog linking and information
propagation structure, after we analyzed one of the largest available datasets,
with 45,000 blogs and ~ 2.2 million blog-postings. Our analysis also sheds

networks. We also present a simple model that mimics the spread of information
on the blogosphere, and produces information cascades very similar to those
found in real life
Executive Blogging: Indian Corporate Heads in the Blogosphere
This study analyzes the content, usability, interactivity and connectivity of Indian executive blogs. Results indicate that among the Indian CEOs and top executives who blog, most are associated with the Information Technology and Internet sectors. A content analysis of the blogs shows that popular blogging topics include industry outlook, technology trends and tips, current affairs and insights on the economy. Executives working with privately-held companies blog more about their personal lives and topics such as entrepreneurship, marketing and advertising, and entertainment than those with public companies. The blog posts of these executives are often in the nature of individual opinions. The executives also provide actionable tips on various topics and products on their blog. While the blogs score high in the interactivity category and do reasonably well in the usability category, most suffer from poor connectivity in terms of providing links to other blogs and websites in the blogroll. Indian executive bloggers need to break out of their isolation and get better exposure by improving connectivity.

Evaluation Of e-Government Services From The Citizen Perspective
The inversion of reduction of confidence in combination with the need to face lack of resources for public administration has led governments and various governmental institutions to develop and propagate the services of electronic government. Investing millions in these services governments seek for measures and models that will quantify and highlight the profits that come up from these investments. Initially we present a short literature review of the existing indicators applied by the European Union and institutions that measure citizensâ satisfaction from the use of electronic government services , as well as the relevant research evaluation models. Afterwards, focusing on the scientific gaps that exist, a conceptual model of citizen acceptance satisfaction with E-government services is proposed and developed. Implications for further research and possible modification to the model are also proposed
Bloggers Behavior and Emergent Communities in Blog Space
Interactions between users in cyberspace may lead to phenomena different from
those observed in common social networks. Here we analyse large data sets about
users and Blogs which they write and comment, mapped onto a bipartite graph. In
such enlarged Blog space we trace user activity over time, which results in
robust temporal patterns of user--Blog behavior and the emergence of
communities. With the spectral methods applied to the projection on weighted
user network we detect clusters of users related to their common interests and
habits. Our results suggest that different mechanisms may play the role in the
case of very popular Blogs. Our analysis makes a suitable basis for theoretical
modeling of the evolution of cyber communities and for practical study of the
data, in particular for an efficient search of interesting Blog clusters and
further retrieval of their contents by text analysis

The importance of blogs and social networking as medium of interactions had gain substantial popularity in mainstream media. Such popularity is due to blogs timely publication, ease of use and wide availability. Blogs hypertext and hyperlinks spread information and influence through an underlying social network. Taking into consideration that past studies on web design have focused on cultural traits on design elements, this paper aims to analyse the patterns on blog design from the perspectives of social influence and interactions. Public Discourse in the Russian Blogosphere: Mapping RuNet Politics and Mobilization
We analyzed Russian blogs to discover networks of discussion around politics and public affairs. Beginning with an initial set of over five million blogs, we used social network analysis to identify a highly active âDiscussion Coreâ of over 11,000. These were clustered according to long term patterns of citations within posts, and the resulting segmentation characterized through both automated and human content analysis.
Key findings include:
* Unlike their counterparts in the US and elsewhere, Russian bloggers prefer platforms that combine features typical of blogs with features of social network services (SNSs) like Facebook. Russian blogging is dominated by a handful of these âSNS hybrids.â
* While the larger Russian blogosphere is highly divided according to platform, there is a central Discussion Core that contains the majority of political and public affairs discourse. This core is comprised mainly, though not exclusively, of blogs on the LiveJournal platform
Mapping the Corporate Blogosphere: Linking Audience, Content, and Management to Blog Visibility
Blogs have been a common part of the Web for many years. Individuals create most blogs for their own purposes, but corporations have also begun to develop corporate blogs as a means for communicating with their stakeholders (e.g., customers, partners, investors). In this paper, we extend theory by generating what Gregor (2006) would call a type I theory. Specifically, we develop a theoretical framework for classifying and analyzing corporate blogs that examines blogsâ target audience, their content (focus and function), and how one should manage them. We use this framework to analyze the impact of these characteristics on the visibility of blogs operated by a sample of Fortune 500 companies. Our results show that a blogâs target audience and how its content and management fit with this audience can have significant impacts on blog visibility. We believe this framework provides a useful foundation for studying corporate blogs in the future
