    Domain-Specific Modeling and Code Generation for Cross-Platform Multi-Device Mobile Apps

    Nowadays, mobile devices constitute the most common computing device. This new computing model has brought intense competition among hardware and software providers who are continuously introducing increasingly powerful mobile devices and innovative OSs into the market. In consequence, cross-platform and multi-device development has become a priority for software companies that want to reach the widest possible audience. However, developing an application for several platforms implies high costs and technical complexity. Currently, there are several frameworks that allow cross-platform application development. However, these approaches still require manual programming. My research proposes to face the challenge of the mobile revolution by exploiting abstraction, modeling and code generation, in the spirit of the modern paradigm of Model Driven Engineering

Em particular a possibilidade de localizar o dispositivo mĆ³vel trouxe uma mais-valia para uma variedade muito grande de diferentes aplicaƧƵes. O valor de poder obter a localizaĆ§Ć£o marcou o futuro da nova geraĆ§Ć£o de telemĆ³veis. ServiƧos de localizaĆ§Ć£o podem ser utilizados para melhorar a informaĆ§Ć£o de trĆ”fego, onde poderĆ” superar a informaĆ§Ć£o obtida por sistemas tradicionais. O objetivo desta dissertaĆ§Ć£o Ć© disponibilizar um trabalho de investigaĆ§Ć£o que examina uma soluĆ§Ć£o em como detetar perigos na via pĆŗblica. O primeiro problema que Ć© investigado Ć© a identificaĆ§Ć£o da posiĆ§Ć£o do dispositivo mĆ³vel. Ɖ feito um estudo sobre como calcular a posiĆ§Ć£o dispositivo em relaĆ§Ć£o aos perigos prĆ³ximos. O segundo problema abordado Ć© o da apresentaĆ§Ć£o da interface ao utilizador. A experiĆŖncia do utilizador com a aplicaĆ§Ć£o Ć© deveras importante e poderĆ” determinar o sucesso, ou insucesso, de uma aplicaĆ§Ć£o. AlĆ©m de ser uma aplicaĆ§Ć£o que precisa de informar o utilizador de um perigo na proximidade sem causar distraĆ§Ć£o. Finalmente, foi feito um estudo sobre a integraĆ§Ć£o de uma rede social com a aplicaĆ§Ć£o de forma a atingir um maior impacto sobre a populaĆ§Ć£o. Os resultados da utilizaĆ§Ć£o da aplicaĆ§Ć£o mostraram um maior pico quando foi realizada a integraĆ§Ć£o com a rede social Facebook.ABSTRACT: Mobile phones popularity has been increasing at a very fast rate. In particular, the possibility of tracking a mobile device has surged as a valuable asset for a large number of applications. The diversity of advantages from using tracking information as set a milestone on the future generation of mobile phones. Tracking services can be used to improve traffic information in which they may overpower traditional systems. The objective of the present thesis is to research a solution on how to detect dangers on public areas, more specifically roads. The first problem investigated is how to use the information of the position of the mobile phone. The investigation starts with a comprehensive study in how to measure the most correct distance between the mobile device and the nearby dangers. A second problem is how to present the interface to the user. The user experience with the application is highly important and may be determinant for the success, or failure, of the application. Besides it is important to keep in mind that it is an application that must inform about nearby danger without distracting the driver. Moreover, it was performed a study on the impact of integrating a social network module in the application. It has been observed a higher usage as a result of adding this module

    Web Development and the way itā€™s been applied nowadays has been remarkably affected by the trend of harnessing userā€™s output through the implementation of Web Analytics. Under-standing the degree in which the process of web development is driven by data demands a detailed examination on topics within the area of Web Analytics and its correlations with Web Development. Accordingly, the strategically implementation of user derived, refined and ana-lyzed data is reflecting the actual incentives and goals business related with the website. Nev-ertheless, the concept of detecting the roles of individuals involved in these processes and investigating their actual roles and contribution, reflects a matter of great importance for un-veiling the actual status quo of web development processes. Therefore, a descriptive analysis of the stakeholdersā€™ involvement who are shaping and driving the development process is em-inent. Describing the mentality and the cooperation established in the relationships of the vari-ous stakeholders combined with the competences provided from Analytic tools is providing a valuable knowledge on the phenomenon of enquiry. In this master thesis, the contemporary process of Web Development is deconstructed and through the examination of Web Analytics and the different roles of individuals involved within it. Additionally, a framework model refined from this research endeavors, that depict the stakeholdersā€™ correlation with the pro-cesses that web development follows, is disclosed
