The 5G System is being developed and enhanced to provide unparalleled connectivity to connect everyone and everything, everywhere. 5G technology use cases depicts the prospects of 5G network model to revolutionize Industry and Education is not an exception . To catch up with the latest technology in the higher education environment there’s a need to have 5G Lab as a Service (LaaS) in education to simulate the real network experience. The software is the key to this generation as the virtualization, modularity and abstraction become more popular in the implementation and that the cloud computing is nowadays becoming the trend of technology. This paper presents a software selection between free5gc, magma and open5gs program. The 5G lab located in Jakarta Indonesia has the ability where in physical and virtual resources can be accessed and managed from any location in the world. Free5gc opensource software solution is the most suitable software which can be used as LaaS in Higher Education laboratory. With a LaaS, we can configuration, connection, and troubleshoot 5G infrastructure including radio access networks, core networks, and transportation networks

This paper has been presented at: Seventh International Workshop on Cloud Technologies and Energy Efficiency in Mobile Communication Networks (CLEEN 2019). How cloudy and green will mobile network and services be? 15 April 2019 - Marrakech, MoroccoIn press / En prensaImmersive video applications based on 360 video streaming require high-bandwidth, high-reliability and lowlatency 5G connectivity but also flexible, low-latency and costeffective computing deployment. This paper proposes a novel solution for decomposing and distributing the end-to-end 360 video streaming service across three computing tiers, namely cloud, edge and constrained fog, in order of proximity to the end user client. The streaming service is aided with an adaptive viewport technique. The proposed solution is based on the H2020 5G-CORAL system architecture using micro-services-based design and a unified orchestration and control across all three tiers based on Fog05. Performance evaluation of the proposed solution shows noticeable reduction in bandwidth consumption, energy consumption, and deployment costs, as compared to a solution where the streaming service is all delivered out of one computing location such as the Cloud. This work has been partially funded by the H2020 collaborative Europe/Taiwan research project 5G-CORAL (grant num. 761586)

6G Mobile-Edge Empowered Metaverse: Requirements, Technologies, Challenges and Research Directions

The Metaverse has emerged as the successor of the conventional mobile internet to change people's lifestyles. It has strict visual and physical requirements to ensure an immersive experience (i.e., high visual quality, low motion-to-photon latency, and real-time tactile and control experience). However, the current communication systems fall short to satisfy these requirements. Mobile edge computing (MEC) has been indispensable to enable low latency and powerful computing. Moreover, the sixth generation (6G) networks promise to provide end users with high-capacity communications to MEC servers. In this paper, we bring together the primary components into a 6G mobile-edge framework to empower the Metaverse. This includes the usage of heterogeneous radios, intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS), non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), and digital twins (DTs). We also discuss novel communication paradigms (i.e., semantic communication, holographic-type communication, and haptic communication) to further satisfy the demand for human-type communications and fulfil user preferences and immersive experiences in the Metaverse
