The CMC/3DPNS computer program for prediction of three-dimension, subsonic, turbulent aerodynamic juncture region flow. Volume 2: Users' manual
The CMC fluid mechanics program system was developed to transmit the theoretical solution of finite element numerical solution methodology, applied to nonlinear field problems into a versatile computer code for comprehensive flow field analysis. Data procedures for the CMC 3 dimensional Parabolic Navier-Stokes (PNS) algorithm are presented. General data procedures a juncture corner flow standard test case data deck is described. A listing of the data deck and an explanation of grid generation methodology are presented. Tabulations of all commands and variables available to the user are described. These are in alphabetical order with cross reference numbers which refer to storage addresses
The CMC/3DPNS computer program for prediction of three-dimensional, subsonic, turbulent aerodynamic juncture region flow. Volume 3: Programmers' manual
The CMC fluid mechanics program system was developed to transmit the theoretical evolution of finite element numerical solution methodology, applied to nonlinear field problems into a versatile computer code for comprehensive flow field analysis. A detailed view of the code from the standpoint of a computer programmer's use is presented. A system macroflow chart and detailed flow charts of several routines necessary to interact with a theoretican/user to modify the operation of this program are presented. All subroutines and details of usage, primarily for input and output routines are described. Integer and real scalars and a cross reference list denoting subroutine usage for these scalars are outlined. Entry points in dynamic storage vector IZ; the lengths of each vector accompanying the scalar definitions are described. A listing of the routines peculiar to the standard test case and a listing of the input deck and printout for this case are included
Port-based modeling and optimal control for a new very versatile energy efficient actuator
In this paper, we analyze in depth the innovative very versatile and energy efficient (V2E2) actuator proposed in Stramigioli et al. (2008). The V2E2 actuator is intended to be used in all kind of robotics and powered prosthetic applications in which energy consumption is a critical issue. In particular, this work focuses on the development of a port-based Hamiltonian model of the V2E2 and presents an optimal control architecture which exploits the intrinsic hybrid characteristics of the actuator design. The optimal control guarantees the minimization of dissipative power losses during torque tracking transients
Cyanobacteria in CELSS: Growth strategies for nutritional variation and nitrogen cycling
Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) are versatile organisms which are capable of adjusting their cellular levels of carbohydrate, protein, and lipid in response to changes in the environment. Under stress conditions there is an imbalance between nitrogen metabolism and carbohydrate/lipid synthesis. The lesion in nitrogen assimilation is at the level of transport: the stress condition diverts energy from the active accumulation of nitrate to the extrusion of salt, and probably inhibits a cold-labile ATP'ace in the case of cold shock. Both situations affect the bioenergetic status of the cell such that the nitrogenous precursors for protein synthesis are depleted. Dispite the inhibition of protein synthesis and growth, photosynthetic reductant generation is relatively unaffected. The high O2 reductant would normally lead to photo-oxidative damage of cellular components; however, the organism copes by channeling the 'excess' reductant into carbon storage products. The increase in glycogen (28 to 35 percent dry weight increase) and the elongation of lipid fatty acid side chains (2 to 5 percent dry weight increase) at the expense of protein synthesis (25 to 34 percent dry weight decrease) results in carbohydrate, lipid and protein ratios that are closer to those required in the human diet. In addition, the selection of nitrogen fixing mutants which excrete ammonium ions present an opportunity to tailor these micro-organisms to meet the specific need for a sub-system to reverse potential loss of fixed nitrogen material
A portable MBE system for in situ X-Ray investigations at synchrotron beamlines
A portable synchrotron MBE system is designed and applied for in situ
investigations. The growth chamber is equipped with all the standard MBE
components such as effusion cells with shutters, main shutter, cooling shroud,
manipulator, RHEED setup and pressure gauges. The characteristic feature of the
system is the beryllium windows which are used for in situ x-ray measurements.
An UHV sample transfer case allows in-vacuo transfer of samples prepared
elsewhere. We describe the system design and demonstrate it's performance by
investigating the annealing process of buried InGaAs self organized quantum
dots
TensorLayer: A Versatile Library for Efficient Deep Learning Development
Deep learning has enabled major advances in the fields of computer vision,
natural language processing, and multimedia among many others. Developing a
deep learning system is arduous and complex, as it involves constructing neural
network architectures, managing training/trained models, tuning optimization
process, preprocessing and organizing data, etc. TensorLayer is a versatile
Python library that aims at helping researchers and engineers efficiently
develop deep learning systems. It offers rich abstractions for neural networks,
model and data management, and parallel workflow mechanism. While boosting
efficiency, TensorLayer maintains both performance and scalability. TensorLayer
was released in September 2016 on GitHub, and has helped people from academia
and industry develop real-world applications of deep learning.Comment: ACM Multimedia 201
AMaĻoSāAbstract Machine for Xcerpt
Web query languages promise convenient and efficient access
to Web data such as XML, RDF, or Topic Maps. Xcerpt is one such Web
query language with strong emphasis on novel high-level constructs for
effective and convenient query authoring, particularly tailored to versatile
access to data in different Web formats such as XML or RDF.
However, so far it lacks an efficient implementation to supplement the
convenient language features. AMaĻoS is an abstract machine implementation
for Xcerpt that aims at efficiency and ease of deployment. It
strictly separates compilation and execution of queries: Queries are compiled
once to abstract machine code that consists in (1) a code segment
with instructions for evaluating each rule and (2) a hint segment that
provides the abstract machine with optimization hints derived by the
query compilation. This article summarizes the motivation and principles
behind AMaĻoS and discusses how its current architecture realizes
these principles
