Local strong solutions to the stochastic third grade fluid equations with Navier boundary conditions
This work is devoted to the study of non-Newtonian fluids of grade three on
two-dimensional and three-dimensional bounded domains, driven by a nonlinear
multiplicative Wiener noise. More precisely, we establish the existence and
uniqueness of the local (in time) solution, which corresponds to an addapted
stochastic process with sample paths defined up to a certain positive stopping
time, with values in the Sobolev space H^3. Our approach combines a cut-off
approximation scheme, a stochastic compactness arguments and a general version
of Yamada-Watanabe theorem. This leads to the existence of a local strong
pathwise solution.Comment: 33 page
International Conference on Mathematical Analysis and Applications in Science and Engineering – Book of Extended Abstracts
The present volume on Mathematical Analysis and Applications in Science and Engineering - Book of
Extended Abstracts of the ICMASC’2022 collects the extended abstracts of the talks presented at the
International Conference on Mathematical Analysis and Applications in Science and Engineering –
ICMA2SC'22 that took place at the beautiful city of Porto, Portugal, in June 27th-June 29th 2022 (3 days).
Its aim was to bring together researchers in every discipline of applied mathematics, science, engineering,
industry, and technology, to discuss the development of new mathematical models, theories, and
applications that contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and practice. Authors proposed
research in topics including partial and ordinary differential equations, integer and fractional order
equations, linear algebra, numerical analysis, operations research, discrete mathematics, optimization,
control, probability, computational mathematics, amongst others.
The conference was designed to maximize the involvement of all participants and will present the state-of-
the-art research and the latest achievements.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
EQUADIFF 15
Equadiff 15 – Conference on Differential Equations and Their Applications – is an international conference in the world famous series Equadiff running since 70 years ago. This booklet contains conference materials related with the 15th Equadiff conference in the Czech and Slovak series, which was held in Brno in July 2022. It includes also a brief history of the East and West branches of Equadiff, abstracts of the plenary and invited talks, a detailed program of the conference, the list of participants, and portraits of four Czech and Slovak outstanding mathematicians
Differentiable positive definite kernels on two-point homogeneous spaces
In this work we study continuous kernels on compact two-point homogeneous spaces which are positive definite and zonal (isotropic). Such kernels were characterized by R. Gangolli some forty years ago and are very useful for solving scattered data interpolation problems on the spaces. In the case the space is the d-dimensional unit sphere, J. Ziegel showed in 2013 that the radial part of a continuous positive definite and zonal kernel is continuously differentiable up to order ⌊(d−1)/2⌋ in the interior of its domain. The main issue here is to obtain a similar result for all the other compact two-point homogeneous spaces.CNPq (grant 141908/2015-7)FAPESP (grant 2014/00277-5
