    A comparative analysis of scalable and context-aware trust management approaches for internet of things

    © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015. The Internet of Things - IoT - is a new paradigm in technology that allows most physical ‘things’ to contact each other. Trust between IoT devices is a critical factor. Trust in the IoT environment can be modeled using various approaches, such as confidence level and reputation parameters. Furthermore, trust is an important element in engineering reliable and scalable networks. In this paper, we survey scalable and context-aware trust management for IoT from three perspectives. First, we present an overview of the IoT and the importance of trust in relation to it, and then we provide an in-depth trust/reliable management protocol for the IoT and evaluate comparable trust management protocols. We also investigate a scalable solution for trust management in the IoT and provide a comparative evaluation of existing trust solutions. We then pre-sent a context-aware assessment for the IoT and compare the different trust solutions. Lastly, we give a full comparative analysis of trust/reliability management in the IoT. Our results are drawn from this comparative analysis, and directions for future research are outlined

    In the last few years in the world of auctions, electronic auctions become a hot topic for discussion, especially in Indonesia. In Indonesia, the auction has been using online electronic system since 2007 with all its advantages and disadvantages. This system is one of a fairly successful program in a good governance. Until now, there are 620 government agencies in Indonesia have been using this electronic procurement systems[19]. The Government can perform a budget efficiency nearly 5% of the total budget by using today's electronic procurement system. The current system is good enough, but there are still some deficiencies found. Some of solutions to cover the deficiency offered in this paper. Starting from the classification of goods or services according to the UNSPSC, applying business classification with ISIC Indonesia in 2009, recording the activity of vendors for consideration decision, and implementing a decision support system using AHP to facilitate the auction committee to determine the winner. All of above matters are intended to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the current system

    Challenges and opportunities of applying natural language processing in business process management

    The Business Process Management (BPM) field focuses in the coordination of labor so that organizational processes are smoothly executed in a way that products and services are properly delivered. At the same time, NLP has reached a maturity level that enables its widespread application in many contexts, thanks to publicly available frameworks. In this position paper, we show how NLP has potential in raising the benefits of BPM practices at different levels. Instead of being exhaustive, we show selected key challenges were a successful application of NLP techniques would facilitate the automation of particular tasks that nowadays require a significant effort to accomplish.     Conversational homes

    As devices proliferate, the ability for us to interact with them in an intuitive and meaningful way becomes increasingly challenging. In this paper we take the typical home as an experimental environment to investigate the challenges and potential solutions arising from ever-increasing device proliferation and complexity. We show a potential solution based on conversational interactions between “things” in the environment where those things can be either machine devices or human users. Our key innovation is the use of a Controlled Natural Language (CNL) technology as the underpinning information representation language for both machine and human agents, enabling humans and machines to trivially “read” the information being exchanged. The core CNL is augmented with a conversational protocol enabling different speech acts to be exchanged within the system. This conversational layer enables key contextual information to be conveyed, as well as providing a mechanism for translation from the core CNL to other forms, such as device specific API requests, or more easily consumable human representations. Our goal is to show that a single, uniform language can support machine- machine, machine-human, human-machine and human-human interaction in a dynamic environment that is able to rapidly evolve to accommodate new devices and capabilities as they are encountered

    Data science for digital culture improvement in higher education using K-means clustering and text analytics

    This study aims to investigate the meaningful pattern that can be used to improve digital culture in higher education based on parameters of the technology acceptance model (TAM). The methodology used is the data mining technique with K-means algorithm and text analytics. The experiment using questionnaire data with 2887 respondents in Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. The data analysis and clustering result show that the perceived usefulness and behavioral intention to use information systems are above the normal value, while the perceived ease of use and actual system use is quite low. Strengthened with text analytics, this research found that the EDA and K-means result in harmony with the hope or desire of academic society the information system implementation. This research also found how important the socialization and guidance of information systems, especially the new one information system, in order to improve digital culture in higher education
