    The telematic dress: Evolving garments and distributed proprioception in streaming media and fashion performance

    Centered around several short films from streaming performances created in 2005, this paper explores new ideas for movement technologies and garment design in an arts and digital research context. The "telematic dress" project, developed at the DAP Lab in Nottingham, involves transdisciplinary intersections between fashion and live performance, interactive system architecture, electronic textiles, wearable technologies, choreography, and anthropology. The concept on an evolving garment design that is materialized (moved) in live performance originates from DAP Lab's experimentation with telematics and distributed media (http://art.ntu.ac. uk/performance_research/birringer/dap.htm] addressing "connective tissues" through a study of perception/proprioception in the wearer (tactile sensory processing) and the dancer/designer/viewer relationship. This study is conducted as cross-cultural communication with online performance partners in Europe, the US, Brazil and Japan. The inter-active space is predicated on transcultural questions: how does the movement with an evolving design and wearable interactive sensors travel, how does movement - and capturing of movement - allow the design to emerge toward a garment statement, and how are bodies-in-relation-to sensory fabrics affected by the multidimensional kinesthetics of a media-rich, responsive environment

    SaferDrive: an NLG-based Behaviour Change Support System for Drivers

    Despite the long history of Natural Language Generation (NLG) research, the potential for influencing real world behaviour through automatically generated texts has not received much attention. In this paper, we present SaferDrive, a behaviour change support system that uses NLG and telematic data in order to create weekly textual feedback for automobile drivers, which is delivered through a smartphone application. Usage-based car insurances use sensors to track driver behaviour. Although the data collected by such insurances could provide detailed feedback about the driving style, they are typically withheld from the driver and used only to calculate insurance premiums. SaferDrive instead provides detailed textual feedback about the driving style, with the intent to help drivers improve their driving habits. We evaluate the system with real drivers and report that the textual feedback generated by our system does have a positive influence on driving habits, especially with regard to speeding

    In France, the development of the Internet has been influenced by the evolution of the inherited information technology. France had many of the elements needed for the Internet to flourish: excellent engineering schools, participation of scientists and academic researchers in data networks, financial markets with venture capital companies, supportive government, and high incomes. Thus, France had many of the components that constitute the American, or even the Silicon Valley, model. And yet, the internet economy did not begin until some years after the United States, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Many have argued that the monopoly of France Telecom slowed the Internet's development in France.     Organizational level of public transport controlling in the public transport system

    Controlling of public transport is a newly developed term just in connection with the IDS development. It is and it will be a direct support of the functioning transport system in the region, namely the support of interconnections of individual lines and services of individual transport operators. Transport technologists who have introduced this term, however, use it to cover all what is connected with the development of public transport in regions. This means a plan of the lines, awarding of contracts to transport operators, creation, monitoring of JŘ adherence, payments in the public transport, monitoring of provable losses, etc., but also the planning and the development of transport routes, transport terminals and interchange junctions. This very general term is not suitable from the viewpoint of creation of information and telematic support. This has already been highlighted by the solvers of the project entitled "Plans of ITS development in the link to the performance of state administration and local government", and therefore they have proposed a necessity of division of this term from the viewpoint of the existing, but especially the future organisation levels in the field of planning, actual organisation and control of public transport in regions. This is given by the presupposed model of activities of a coordinator of public transport

    Exploration and Project Management

    Project management in academic studies tends to be regarded as an adequate solution to the problems raised by innovation. This paper sets out to question this tendency to equate projects and innovation which, in our view, can lead to the improper use of projects to manage innovation. We argue that, in line with the work on project classification, a distinction should be made between the various types of design situations to which different types of projects are suited. Qualitative research on automotive telematics allows us to identify the management methods suited to the most innovative projects, i.e. exploration projects for which neither technologies nor customer requirements are known at the start of the project. We will show how these situations shake up traditional project management models and will propose five management principles adapted to this new situation.innovation, project management, Automotive telematics, New Product Development, exploration
