A New Business Model For Electronic Marketplaces

The use of electronic marketplaces contrary to expectations still remains marginal in the ‘Francophone’ business landscape. Despite convincing arguments discussed in the scholarly, professional and trade literature, the credibility of marketplaces is constantly undermined in practice as they have to incessantly fend off rumours about bankruptcy in France and elsewhere. Moreover, the term ‘marketplace’ can cover a multitude of business relationships and it is currently difficult to compare offers and distinguish across a range of services. The purpose of this paper is therefore to put forward a typology by identifying, analysing and classifying the Francophone marketplaces, i.e. 225 marketplaces, in the fall of 2007. The proposed typology enables us to (1) highlight their diversity and the types of economic models that underpin their value chain (2) observe that the majority neglects certain high-added value services for which demand is great, and favours services which are hardly cost-effective and for which supply is much higher than demand, and (3) anticipate future evolutions by examining the strategic moves that a minority of them are already making

Semantic discovery and reuse of business process patterns

Patterns currently play an important role in modern information systems (IS) development and their use has mainly been restricted to the design and implementation phases of the development lifecycle. Given the increasing significance of business modelling in IS development, patterns have the potential of providing a viable solution for promoting reusability of recurrent generalized models in the very early stages of development. As a statement of research-in-progress this paper focuses on business process patterns and proposes an initial methodological framework for the discovery and reuse of business process patterns within the IS development lifecycle. The framework borrows ideas from the domain engineering literature and proposes the use of semantics to drive both the discovery of patterns as well as their reuse

In 2019, the collectives, LATmetrics and the Latin American Symposium on Metric Studies in Science and Technology agreed to hold a joint event in 2021. The purpose of this alliance was to offer a space for common dialogue that allowed knowing the general panorama of metric studies. of science and technology from a comprehensive and multidimensional point of view in Latin America. In addition to the general state of the art of metrics on science and technology, the debate on the role of these instruments was of interest, in two particular aspects: (a) the national systems of evaluation of scientific and technological production, the exploration of maps of knowledge, the projection of trends, the forecast of discoveries and (b) the development of metric instruments that would make it possible to observe the role of science and technology in social transformation. Finally, in the field of social transformation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, science and technology metrics played a central role in guiding or misguiding global research teams. It was important to develop a space that made it possible to expose the main advances from Latin America in the generation of tools to support the search for solutions to the multiple problems that science and technology face to solve problems of different pandemics
