Whitham systems and deformations
We consider the deformations of Whitham systems including the "dispersion
terms" and having the form of Dubrovin-Zhang deformations of Frobenius
manifolds. The procedure is connected with B.A. Dubrovin problem of
deformations of Frobenius manifolds corresponding to the Whitham systems of
integrable hierarchies. Under some non-degeneracy requirements we suggest a
general scheme of the deformation of the hyperbolic Whitham systems using the
initial non-linear system. The general form of the deformed Whitham system
coincides with the form of the "low-dispersion" asymptotic expansions used by
B.A. Dubrovin and Y. Zhang in the theory of deformations of Frobenius
manifolds.Comment: 27 pages, Late
Robust Fault Diagnosis by Optimal Input Design for Self-sensing Systems
This paper presents a methodology for model based robust fault diagnosis and
a methodology for input design to obtain optimal diagnosis of faults. The
proposed algorithm is suitable for real time implementation. Issues of
robustness are addressed for the input design and fault diagnosis
methodologies. The proposed technique allows robust fault diagnosis under
suitable conditions on the system uncertainty. The designed input and fault
diagnosis techniques are illustrated by numerical simulation.Comment: Accepted in IFAC World Congress 201
Flat bidifferential ideals and semihamiltonian PDEs
In this paper we consider a class of semihamiltonian systems characterized by
the existence of a special conservation law.
The density and the current of this conservation law satisfy a second order
system of PDEs which has a natural interpretation in the theory of flat
bifferential ideals. The class of systems we consider contains important
well-known examples of semihamiltonian systems. Other examples, like genus 1
Whitham modulation equations for KdV, are related to this class by a
reciprocal trasformation.Comment: 18 pages. v5: formula (36) corrected; minor change
