Stanford Linear Accelerator Center: A Chemical Management Services Case Study
The Chemical Management Services (CMS) program at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC)was launched in August of 2005. In the first six months of the program, there were 170 users in 35 work areas requesting more than 1,600 different chemicals from a central ordering system provided by the CMS provider. The CMS provider exceeded the goals for on-time delivery and the program has reduced scrap and spoilage in inventory. Savings have already been realized in material purchase costs, inventory carrying costs, MSDS management, EHS labor, and annual hazardous material inventory activity
Leptonic Decays at BABAR
We present recent results on leptonic B decays using data collected by the
BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at the Stanford
Linear Accelerator Center. We report searches for the B -> tau nu decay, based
on two statistically independent data samples.Comment: 4 pages, 3 eps figures, Submitted for the SUSY07 proceeding
Flux profile scanners for scattered high-energy electrons
The paper describes the design and performance of flux integrating Cherenkov
scanners with air-core reflecting light guides used in a high-energy, high-flux
electron scattering experiment at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The
scanners were highly radiation resistant and provided a good signal to
background ratio leading to very good spatial resolution of the scattered
electron flux profile scans.Comment: 22 pages, 17 figure
Evidence for virtual Compton scattering from the proton
In virtual Compton scattering an electron is scattered off a nucleon such that the nucleon emits a photon. We show that these events can be selected experimentally, and present the first evidence for virtual Compton scattering from the proton in data obtained at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The angular and energy dependence of the data is well described by a calculation that includes the coherent sum of electron and proton radiation
Charmless Hadronic B Decays at BaBar
We present recent results on charmless hadronic B decays using data collected
by the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at the
Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. We report measurements of branching
fractions and charge asymmetries in several charmless two-body, three-body, and
quasi-two-body decay modes. We also report measurements of polarization in
charmless B decays to exclusive final states with two vector mesons.Comment: Proceedings to the Lake Louise Winter Institute 200
Electroweak Results from the SLD Experiment
We present an overview of the electroweak physics program of the SLD
experiment at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC). A data sample of
550K Z0 decays has been collected. This experiment utilizes a highly polarized
electron beam, a small interaction volume, and a very precise pixel vertex
detector. We present a preliminary result for the weak mixing angle,
sin2(thetaw)=0.23110 +- 0.00029. We also present a preliminary result for the
parity violating parameter, A_b = 0.898 +- 0.029. These measurements are used
to test for physics beyond the Standard Model.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figure
