    Venn-diagram strategy in EFL class to enhance learners’ writing skill and motivation

    This classroom action research was intended to enhance students' skills and motivation in writing report texts by implementing the Venn-diagram strategy. Twenty-one students failing to achieve the passing grade level of scores on their writing skills at the ninth grade of an Islamic secondary school in East Java Indonesia became the subjects of the study. The observation checklist, field notes, questionnaires, and writing test were used to collect data through implementing the Venn-diagram strategy taking a two-set circle and applying the writing process – prewriting via generating ideas, selecting relevant ideas, and ordering ideas; drafting general classification and description paragraphs; revising the rough draft and editing it; and publishing a final version. The results showed that the strategy can enhance the learners’ skills and their motivation in writing report text. The learners’ writing scores significantly increased both in two cycles – thirteen learners of the twenty-one students passed from the passing grade level in Cycle 1, and all learners passed from those in Cycle 2. It also highly motivates learners in writing report text, both in two cycles. Therefore, English teachers are recommended to apply Venn-diagram strategy in EFL writing class to start writing

    This report consists of a collaborative critical review, whose theoretical foundation is consolidated in the research of Professor and Scientist Dr. Carla Verônica Machado Marques, which originated the Doctoral Thesis EICA - Learning Cognitive Internal Structures: A NeuroComputational Model applied to the instance. System of the Person System in Dimensional Spaces. Besides the thorough analysis of the referent Thesis, the timely reading of Dedre Getner's Mental Models, which exposes the construction of mental processes about the formal nature of human knowledge. The reading of the work made it possible to investigate the EICA in an attempt to prove the engineering model of the mind. TAIA: The Unconscious Automaton Learning Theory and its foundations that verify and covalidate the process and the construction of human understanding. This research is exploratory and describes the axioms, dimensions and macro markers of mental models. This is followed by the description of the axioms of mathematical logical metaphorical templates. The interpretation of the collected material opens up a vast investigative space, as it allows the visualization of the three-dimensional investigation space - TAIA. The structure of this study was elaborated under the contextual context of the computational neuropedagogy reports I and II, Process Content: The metaphorical transmoglyphation of cognitive schemes and Templates: The Universals of Cognition in the context of intelligent games for the construction of brain-mind models. In addition, it serves as a model to assist future studies in the metacognitive field, in the development and conception of research in the field of neuropedagogy.O presente relatório consiste em uma resenha crítico colaborativa, cuja fundamentação teórica está consolidada na pesquisa da Professora e Cientista Dra. Carla Verônica Machado Marques, a qual originou a Tese de Doutorado Eica – Estruturas Internas Cognitivas Aprendentes: Um Modelo Neuro-Computacional aplicado à instância psíquica do Sistema Pessoa em Espaços Dimensionais. além da análise minuciosa da referente tese, a leitura oportuna da obra mental models de dedre getner a qual expõe a construção dos processos mentais sobre a natureza formal do conhecimento humano. A leitura da obra oportunizou investigar o EICA na tentativa de comprovar o modelo de engenharia da mente TAIA: Teoria de Aprendizagem Do Inconsciente Autômato e seus fundamentos que verificam e covalidam o processo e a construção do entendimento humano. Esta pesquisa tem caráter exploratório e descreve os axiomas, as dimensões e os macro marcadores de modelos mentais. Segue-se a isso, a descrição dos axiomas de templates metafóricos lógico matemáticos. A interpretação do material coletado abre um vasto espaço investigativo, pois possibilita visualizar o espaço de investigação tridimensional -TAIA. A estrutura deste estudo foi elaborada sob o âmbito contextual dos relatórios de neuropedagogia computacional I e II, Conteúdo-Processo: A transmoglifação metafórica dos esquemas cognitivos e Templates: Os Universais da cognição no contexto dos games inteligentes para a construção de modelos cérebro-mente, além disso, serve como modelo para auxiliar futuros estudos no campo metacognitivo, no desenvolvimento e concepção de pesquisas na área de neuropedagogia
