Despite the eurozone crisis, and the ambivalent attitudes ofthe Turkish public, Turkey still stands to benefit from EUaccession.by Blo
While the EU continues to work toward a solution to the eurozone crisis, Turkey has experienced a period of strong economic growth. Soli Özel argues that although Turkey’s interest in EU membership has declined in the wake of the crisis, the country could still gain substantial benefits from European integration. The crisis may also have a positive effect for Turkey if it produces a more flexible arrangement in the EU’s structure, potentially opening the door for the country’s accession
Erdoğan is in the process of establishing a presidential political system in Turkey based on Islamic rather than secular principles
On 10 August, Turkey’s Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, won the country’s presidential election, becoming the first directly elected President in Turkey’s history. Soli Özel assesses Erdoğan’s victory and what it means for the country’s future. He writes that the result is a step toward the creation of a new presidential political system within Turkey, but that this will depend on whether Erdoğan’s ruling Justice and Development Party can secure the parliamentary majority required to amend the country’s constitution
Sodelovalne ucne oblike pri jezikovnem delu pouka slovenscine v osnovni soli
In the Slovenian language syllabus, teachers are recommended to provide a greater share of group work during class. During types of learning such as cooperative learning in smaller groups or pairs, students actively develop communicative competence. The present article presents a survey that attempted to determine whether teachers from the first to the fifth grade execute cooperative learning in language classes. The purpose of the article is to raise teachers’ awareness and encourage them to design and execute cooperative learning more frequently. (DIPF/Orig.

Soli al Mondo: The Recourse to "Sovereigntism" in Contemporary Italian Populism
"Sovranismo" has become the “go-to” word to use in contrasting those advocating “take back control” and nationalism against the “globalists” who are the bête noire of populism. This paper discusses the recent provenance of the word and the impluses that underlie it. It then considers the various arguments for sovranismo more broadly. The final section discusses the actual history of state sovereignty and suggests that current usage lacks much understanding of its complexities
A Blueprint for Early Care and Education Quality Improvement Initiatives: Final Report
As Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS) continue to launch and mature across states, questions emerge from stakeholders about how to design and implement effective quality improvement (QI) initiatives that accompany a QRIS. Funders, policymakers and program developers with limited resources are looking to invest in activities that will be most successful in supporting early care and education (ECE) program quality improvement and ultimately improving outcomes for young children. The purpose of this report is to address questions about effective QI initiatives by proposing a blueprint of quality improvement practices and design considerations generated from a synthesis of the existing research literature and input from national experts in ECE quality improvement
First observation of bright solitons in bulk superfluid He-4
The existence of bright solitons in bulk superfluid He-4 is demonstrated by
time-resolved shadowgraph i maging experiments and density functional theory
(DFT) calculations. The initial liquid compression that leads to the creation
of non-linear waves is produced by rapidly expanding plasma from laser
ablation. Af ter the leading dissipative period, these waves transform into
bright solitons, which exhibit three chara cteristic features: dispersionless
propagation, negligible interaction in two-wave collision, and direct
dependence between soliton amplitude and the propagation velocity. The
experimental observations are supp orted by DFT calculations, which show rapid
evolution of the initially compressed liquid into bright soli tons. At high
amplitudes, solitons become unstable and break down into dispersive shock
waves.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures (accepted for publication in Phys. Rev. Lett.
