A Revision Control System for Image Editing in Collaborative Multimedia Design
Revision control is a vital component in the collaborative development of
artifacts such as software code and multimedia. While revision control has been
widely deployed for text files, very few attempts to control the versioning of
binary files can be found in the literature. This can be inconvenient for
graphics applications that use a significant amount of binary data, such as
images, videos, meshes, and animations. Existing strategies such as storing
whole files for individual revisions or simple binary deltas, respectively
consume significant storage and obscure semantic information. To overcome these
limitations, in this paper we present a revision control system for digital
images that stores revisions in form of graphs. Besides, being integrated with
Git, our revision control system also facilitates artistic creation processes
in common image editing and digital painting workflows. A preliminary user
study demonstrates the usability of the proposed system.Comment: pp. 512-517 (6 pages
Business Environment of Enterprise
Summing up, we note that the business environment has high dynamism, information uncertainty and unpredictability of events and results of their activities, which requires a revision of traditional approaches to the formation of competitive strategies and management in the global economic space
Ranking Revision Reloaded
In the context of a general revision framework, we propose and take a first look at revision strategies for epistemic ranking measures reaching beyond minimal Jeffrey-conditionalization, a variant of Spohn-style revision
MasterChem: Cooking 2D-polymers
2D-polymers are still dominated by graphene and closely related materials such as boron nitride, transition metal sulphides and oxides. However, the rational combination of molecules with suitable design is already showing the high potential of chemistry in this new research field. The aim of this feature article is to illustrate, and provide some perspectives, the current state-of-the-art in the field of synthetic 2D-polymers showing different alternatives to prepare this novel type of polymers based on the rational use of chemistry. This review comprises a brief revision of the essential concepts, the strategies of preparation following the two general approaches, bottom-up and top-down, and a revision of the promising seminal properties showed by some of these nanomaterials.Financial support from Spanish MINECO (MAT2013-46753-C2-1-P and MAT2013-46502-C2-2-P). Two-player Knock 'em Down
We analyze the two-player game of Knock 'em Down, asymptotically as the
number of tokens to be knocked down becomes large. Optimal play requires mixed
strategies with deviations of order sqrt(n) from the naive law-of-large numbers
allocation. Upon rescaling by sqrt(n) and sending n to infinity, we show that
optimal play's random deviations always have bounded support and have marginal
distributions that are absolutely continuous with respect to Lebesgue measure.Comment: 15 pages, 1 figure. v2 has minor revision
Evolutionary dynamics in heterogeneous populations: a general framework for an arbitrary type distribution
A general framework of evolutionary dynamics under heterogeneous populations
is presented. The framework allows continuously many types of heterogeneous
agents, heterogeneity both in payoff functions and in revision protocols and
the entire joint distribution of strategies and types to influence the payoffs
of agents. We clarify regularity conditions for the unique existence of a
solution trajectory and for the existence of equilibrium. We confirm that
equilibrium stationarity in general and equilibrium stability in potential
games are extended from the homogeneous setting to the heterogeneous setting.
In particular, a wide class of admissible dynamics share the same set of
locally stable equilibria in a potential game through local maximization of the
potential
