Reversing Steps in Petri Nets
In reversible computations one is interested in the development of mechanisms allowing to undo the effects of executed actions. The past research has been concerned mainly with reversing single actions. In this paper, we consider the problem of reversing the effect of the execution of groups of actions (steps). Using Petri nets as a system model, we introduce concepts related to this
new scenario, generalising notions used in the single action case. We then present a number of properties which arise in the context of reversing of steps of executed transitions in place/transition nets. We obtain both positive and negative results, showing that dealing with steps makes reversibility more involved than in the sequential case. In particular, we demonstrate that there is a crucial difference between reversing steps which are sets and those which are true multisets
Solving the Petri-Nets to Statecharts Transformation Case with UML-RSDS
This paper provides a solution to the Petri-Nets to statecharts case using
UML-RSDS. We show how a highly declarative solution which is confluent and
invertible can be given using this approach.Comment: In Proceedings TTC 2013, arXiv:1311.753
Mining structured Petri nets for the visualization of process behavior
Visualization is essential for understanding the models obtained by process mining. Clear and efficient visual representations make the embedded information more accessible and analyzable. This work presents a novel approach for generating process models with structural properties that induce visually friendly layouts. Rather than generating a single model that captures all behaviors, a set of Petri net models is delivered, each one covering a subset of traces of the log. The models are mined by extracting slices of labelled transition systems with specific properties from the complete state space produced by the process logs. In most cases, few Petri nets are sufficient to cover a significant part of the behavior produced by the log.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft
Reversibility in Chemical Reactions
open access bookIn this chapter we give an overview of techniques for the
modelling and reasoning about reversibility of systems, including outof-
causal-order reversibility, as it appears in chemical reactions. We consider
the autoprotolysis of water reaction, and model it with the Calculus
of Covalent Bonding, the Bonding Calculus, and Reversing Petri Nets.
This exercise demonstrates that the formalisms, developed for expressing
advanced forms of reversibility, are able to model autoprotolysis of
water very accurately. Characteristics and expressiveness of the three
formalisms are discussed and illustrated
