Computer aided inspection procedures to support smart manufacturing of injection moulded components
This work presents Reverse Engineering and Computer Aided technologies to improve the inspection of injection moulded electro-mechanical parts. Through a strong integration and automation of these methods, tolerance analysis, acquisition tool-path optimization and data management are performed. The core of the procedure concerns the automation of the data measure originally developed through voxel-based segmentation. This paper discusses the overall framework and its integration made according to Smart Manufacturing requirements. The experimental set-up, now in operative conditions at ABB SACE, is composed of a laser scanner installed on a CMM machine able to measure components with lengths in the range of 5÷250 mm, (b) a tool path optimization procedure and (c) a data management both developed as CAD-based applications
Enabling Operator Reordering in Data Flow Programs Through Static Code Analysis
In many massively parallel data management platforms, programs are
represented as small imperative pieces of code connected in a data flow. This
popular abstraction makes it hard to apply algebraic reordering techniques
employed by relational DBMSs and other systems that use an algebraic
programming abstraction. We present a code analysis technique based on reverse
data and control flow analysis that discovers a set of properties from user

Antiretroviral drug resistance mutations in naïve and experienced patients in Shiraz, Iran, 2014
Resistance to antiretroviral agents is a significant concern in the clinical management of HIV-infected individuals, particularly in areas of the world where treatment options are limited. In this study, we aimed to identify HIV drug-resistance-associated mutations in 40 drug-naïve patients and 62 patients under antiretroviral therapy (ART) referred to the Shiraz HIV/AIDS Research Center – the first such data available for the south of Iran. HIV reverse transcriptase and protease genes were amplified and sequenced to determine subtypes and antiretroviral- resistance-associated mutations (RAMs). Subtype CRF35-AD recombinant was the most prevalent in all patients (98 of 102, 96 % ), followed by subtype A1, and subtype B (one each, 2 % ). Among the 40 ART-naïve patients, two mutations associated with nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) resistance (two with Y115F and T215I) and three associated with non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) resistance (two with G190S and Y181C, four with V179T) were found. Among ART-experienced patients, four mutations associated with resistance to NRTI, four with NNRTI, and five with protease inhibitors (PI) were found. Twenty patients with high levels of resistance were already on second-line therapy. We document for the first time in this region of Iran high levels of ART resistance to multiple drugs. Our findings call for more vigilant systematic ART resistance surveillance, increased resistance testing, careful management of patients with existing regimens, and strong advocacy for expansion of available drugs in Iran. © 2016, Springer-Verlag Wien

A discussion of the findings and their implications highlighting the important role of information technologies for efficient data collection and processing of recovery operations lead to capturing value from effective management of reverse logistics
Green management and green technology - exploring the causal relationship
In this paper, we analyze potential endogeneity problems in former econometric studies which regress corporate environmental performance such as green technology activities on green management. Based on evolutionary theory and the resource-based view of the firm, we discuss in the first step that green technology could also influence green management and that unobserved firm characteristics could simultaneously influence green management and green technology. Contrary to existing studies, we empirically explore in the second step the structural reverse causality hypothesis with a unique crosssectional firm-level data set from the German manufacturing sector. Our econometric analyses with uni- and multivariate probit models imply a significantly positive effect of environmental process innovations on certified environmental management systems and a significantly positive impact of environmental product innovations on life cycle assessment activities. We interpret these empirical results as a further indicator that the causal relationship between green management and green technology is not clear. We conclude that panel data, which are not available for technological environmental innovations yet, are a necessary condition to solve these endogeneity problems. Such panel data studies could therefore be an appropriate basis for robust conclusions with regard to voluntary green management measures as a non-mandatory approach in environmental policy. --Non-mandatory environmental policy,green management,green technology,uni- and multivariate probit models,endogeneity
Stock Market Reactions to the Announcements and Executions of Stock-Splits and Reverse Stock-Split
The aim of this paper is to analyze the stock market investors reactions to the events of announcement and execution of stock-splits and reverse stock-splits carried out on Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) during the period 2004-2012. The study puts the emphasis on the differences between market reactions to standard stock-splits and reverse stock-splits. The results presented in this paper are based on the methodology of event study. The studied data sample consists of 45instances of stock-splits and 6 instances of reverse stock-splits that took place on WSE in the specified period of time. Results obtained suggest no statistically significant reaction to the events of: split announcement, split execution and reverse split execution and a statistically significant (mostly negative) reaction to the event of reverse split announcement. Although some anomalies can be observed on close inspection of the data, in general the obtained results can be interpreted as evidence of investors' rationality withregards to events connected with stock-splits on

The role of returns management orientation, internal collaboration, and information support in reverse logistics
While reverse logistics has gained significant interest in recent years, the research on its antecedents is still far from comprehensive. The current study utilizes data collected from China to empirically test a conceptual model that is developed based on the resource based view of the firm. It is proposed that returns management orientation, internal collaboration, and information support are important predictors of reverse logistics performance. The structural equation modeling analysis supports these proposed relationships. Furthermore, the current study also confirms the positive relationship between a firm’s reverse logistics performance and market performance
