A Bi-Objective Programming Model for Reliable Supply Chain Network Design Under Facility Disruption

Supply chain networks generally are composed of four main entity types: supplier, production centers, distribution centers and demand zones that consist of facilities whose activities involve the transformation of raw material into finished products that are later delivered from the suppliers to the end customers. Supply chain network design as the most important strategic decision in supply chain management plays an important role in the overall environmental and economic performance of the supply chain. The nature and complexity of today’s supply chains network make them vulnerable to various risks. One of the most important risks is disruption risk. Disruptions are costly and can be caused by internal or external sources to the supply chain, thus it is crucial that managers take appropriate measures of responses to reduce its negative effects. A recovery time of disrupted facilities and return it to the normal condition can be an important factor for members of the supply chain. In this paper, a bi-objective model is developed for reliable supply chain network design under facility disruption. To solve this model, we have applied two approaches, i.e., ε constraint method as an exact method and non- dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGAII) as a meta-heuristic method

Multi-project Optimal Scheduling Considering Reliability and Quality Within the Construction Supply Chain: A Hybrid Genetic Algorithm

Although the construction industry, especially because of its relationship with other economic sectors, is one of the most important sectors that plays a key role in a country's economic growth, the construction supply chain has been considered less attention. Therefore, construction supply chain network design is of great importance for not only the companies but also governments. Thus, presenting an original mixed integer linear programming model, this paper introduces an optimal framework for a multi-project multi-resource multi-supplier construction supply chain network design for large construction companies with a decentralized procurement strategy. The main objective is to design a reliable supply chain model based on the quality of projects under the certain predefined budget, considering the entire supply chain as a single entity. Using a bi-objective approach to formulate the chain and the Lp-metric approach to solve the problem, make it possible to obtain a single-objective structural framework to reliability-quality trade-off consideration. To solve the problem in small and medium scales, GAMS software is employed, and a hybrid algorithm based on Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm is developed to solve the large-scaled problem. The results show the capability of the model to attain optimal size of the chain as well as the quality-reliability trade-off considering a pre-specified budget. And, to the best of authors knowledge this is the first to obtain such a structured integrated framework in the construction supply chain

    JaxNet: Scalable Blockchain Network

Today's world is organized based on merit and value. A single global currency that's decentralized is needed for a global economy. Bitcoin is a partial solution to this need, however it suffers from scalability problems which prevent it from being mass-adopted. Also, the deflationary nature of bitcoin motivates people to hoard and speculate on them instead of using them for day to day transactions. We propose a scalable, decentralized cryptocurrency that is based on Proof of Work. The solution involves having parallel chains in a closed network using a mechanism which rewards miners proportional to their effort in maintaining the network. The proposed design introduces a novel approach for solving scalability problem in blockchain network based on merged mining.Comment: 55 pages. 10 figure

Improving supply chain management in construction: what can be learned from the aerospace industry?

    Get PDF
In order to provide for controllable delivery, reliable lead times and efficient customer response, lean manufacturing and platform assembly practices play an important role in supply chains in the aerospace industry. The adoption of lean manufacturing practices ensures an efficient delivery of products to the market. Benefits from the development of platform strategies are a more reliable materials supply and an improved logistics control. The aerospace industry is characterized by a small number of major global players and many small ones. A major part of the design and production has been contracted out to suppliers. In this paper the basic similarities and differences between the construction and aerospace industry and supply chains are analysed. A comparative study of aerospace and construction supply chains is presented to indicate and discuss the applicability of supply chain management concepts to construction, and the improvement potential of these concepts regarding supply chain management in construction. It is concluded that in particular the practice of platform assembly is a fruitful concept to be applied in the construction industry

Technologie RFID a Blochkchain v dodavatelském řetězci

The paper discusses the possibility of combining RFID and Blockchain technology to more effectively prevent counterfeiting of products or raw materials, and to solve problems related to production, logistics and storage. Linking these technologies can lead to better planning by increasing the transparency and traceability of industrial or logistical processes or such as efficient detection of critical chain sites.Příspěvek se zabývá možností kombinace technologií RFID a Blockchain pro účinnější zabránění padělání výrobků či surovin a řešení problémů spojených s výrobou, logistikou a skladováním. Spojení těchto technologií může vést k lepšímu plánování díky vyšší transparentnosti a sledovatelnosti průmyslových nebo logistických procesů, nebo například k efektivnímu zjišťování kritických míst řetězce
