Performance Analysis of Best Relaying Protocol Selection with Interferences at Relays
In this paper, we investigate the performance of selecting the best protocol between amplify and forward (AF) and decode and forward (DF) in multiple relay networks with multiple interferences at relays. In the selection scheme, the best protocol between AF and DF is selected depending on the comparisons of signal-to-interference and noise ratio (SINR) for all source-relay links. All relays measure the received SINR to decide forwarding signal or not. When SINR is above a certain threshold then DF is used otherwise AF is used. Particularly, we develop an accurate mathematical model for best relaying protocol by considering the effect of interferences to our scheme. Firstly, we derive the asymptotic closed form expression for the symbol error rate (SER) for the system under study. Also we derive an upper and lower bound of symbol error rate and show how they were tight with exact SER. Furthermore an approximate expression for the outage probability is derived. Numerical results are finally presented to validate the theoretical analysis with a different number of relays
Cooperative Relaying in a Poisson Field of Interferers: A Diversity Order Analysis
This work analyzes the gains of cooperative relaying in interference-limited
networks, in which outages can be due to interference and fading. A stochastic
model based on point process theory is used to capture the spatial randomness
present in contemporary wireless networks. Using a modification of the
diversity order metric, the reliability gain of selection decode-and-forward is
studied for several cases. The main results are as follows: the achievable
\emph{spatial-contention} diversity order (SC-DO) is equal to one irrespective
of the type of channel which is due to the ineffectiveness of the relay in the
MAC-phase (transmit diversity). In the BC-phase (receive diversity), the SC-DO
depends on the amount of fading and spatial interference correlation. In the
absence of fading, there is a hard transition between SC-DO of either one or
two, depending on the system parameters.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures. To be presented at ISIT 201
Cooperative Relaying in Wireless Networks under Spatially and Temporally Correlated Interference
We analyze the performance of an interference-limited, decode-and-forward,
cooperative relaying system that comprises a source, a destination, and
relays, placed arbitrarily on the plane and suffering from interference by a
set of interferers placed according to a spatial Poisson process. In each
transmission attempt, first the transmitter sends a packet; subsequently, a
single one of the relays that received the packet correctly, if such a relay
exists, retransmits it. We consider both selection combining and maximal ratio
combining at the destination, Rayleigh fading, and interferer mobility.
We derive expressions for the probability that a single transmission attempt
is successful, as well as for the distribution of the transmission attempts
until a packet is transmitted successfully. Results provide design guidelines
applicable to a wide range of systems. Overall, the temporal and spatial
characteristics of the interference play a significant role in shaping the
system performance. Maximal ratio combining is only helpful when relays are
close to the destination; in harsh environments, having many relays is
especially helpful, and relay placement is critical; the performance improves
when interferer mobility increases; and a tradeoff exists between energy
efficiency and throughput
Outage Probability of Wireless Ad Hoc Networks with Cooperative Relaying
In this paper, we analyze the performance of cooperative transmissions in
wireless ad hoc networks with random node locations. According to a contention
probability for message transmission, each source node can either transmits its
own message signal or acts as a potential relay for others. Hence, each
destination node can potentially receive two copies of the message signal, one
from the direct link and the other from the relay link. Taking the random node
locations and interference into account, we derive closed-form expressions for
the outage probability with different combining schemes at the destination
nodes. In particular, the outage performance of optimal combining, maximum
ratio combining, and selection combining strategies are studied and quantified.Comment: 7 pages; IEEE Globecom 201
Exact Outage Performance Analysis of Multiuser Multi-relay Spectrum Sharing Cognitive Networks
In this paper, we investigate the outage performance of dual-hop multiuser multi-relay cognitive radio networks under spectrum sharing constraints. Using an efficient relay-destination selection scheme, the exact and asymptotic closed-form expressions for the outage probability are derived. From these expressions it is indicated that the achieved diversity order is only determined by the number of secondary user (SU) relays and destinations, and equals to M+N (where M and N are the number of destination nodes and relay nodes, respectively). Further, we find that the coding gain of the SU network will be affected by the interference threshold at the primary user (PU) receiver. Specifically, as the increases of the interference threshold, the coding gain of the considered network approaches to that of the multiuser multi-relay system in the non-cognitive network. Finally, our study is corroborated by representative numerical examples
