Event driven animation provides a general method of describing controlling values for various computer animation techniques. A definition and comments are provided on genralizing motion description with events. Additional comments are also provided about the implementation of twixt

Production and Playback of Human Figure Motion 3D Virtual Environments

    Get PDF
We describe a system for off-line production and real-time playback of motion for articulated human figures in 3D virtual environments. The key notions are (1) the logical storage of full body motion in posture graphs, which provides a simple motion access method for playback, and (2) mapping the motions of higher DOF figures using slaving to provide human models at several levels of detail, both in geometry and articulation, for later playback. We present our system in a context of a simple problem: Animating human figures in a distributed simulation, using DIS protocols for communication the human state information. We also discuss several related techniques for real-time animation of articulated figures in visual simulation

Requirements for an Adaptive Multimedia Presentation System with Contextual Supplemental Support Media

    Get PDF
Investigations into the requirements for a practical adaptive multimedia presentation system have led the writers to propose the use of a video segmentation process that provides contextual supplementary updates produced by users. Supplements consisting of tailored segments are dynamically inserted into previously stored material in response to questions from users. A proposal for the use of this technique is presented in the context of personalisation within a Virtual Learning Environment. During the investigation, a brief survey of advanced adaptive approaches revealed that adaptation may be enhanced by use of manually generated metadata, automated or semi-automated use of metadata by stored context dependent ontology hierarchies that describe the semantics of the learning domain. The use of neural networks or fuzzy logic filtering is a technique for future investigation. A prototype demonstrator is under construction

Markerless Motion Capture in the Crowd

This work uses crowdsourcing to obtain motion capture data from video recordings. The data is obtained by information workers who click repeatedly to indicate body configurations in the frames of a video, resulting in a model of 2D structure over time. We discuss techniques to optimize the tracking task and strategies for maximizing accuracy and efficiency. We show visualizations of a variety of motions captured with our pipeline then apply reconstruction techniques to derive 3D structure.Comment: Presented at Collective Intelligence conference, 2012 (arXiv:1204.2991

Computer generated animation and movie production at LARC: A case study

    Get PDF
The process of producing computer generated 16mm movies using the MOVIE.BYU software package developed by Brigham Young University and the currently available hardware technology at the Langley Research Center is described. A general overview relates the procedures to a specific application. Details are provided which describe the data used, preparation of a storyboard, key frame generation, the actual animation, title generation, filming, and processing/developing the final product. Problems encountered in each of these areas are identified. Both hardware and software problems are discussed along with proposed solutions and recommendations

Building an interactive 3D animation system

The continued improvement and proliferation of graphics hardware for workstations and personal computers has brought increasing prominence to a newer style of software application program. This style relies on fast, high quality graphics displays coupled with expressive input devices to achieve real-time animation and direct-manipulation interaction metaphors. Such applications impose a rather different conceptual approach, on both the user and the programmer, than more traditional software. The application program can be thought of increasingly as a virtual machine, with a tangible two or three dimensional appearance, behavior and tactile response. Dynamic graphics techniques are now considered essential for making computers easier to use, and interactive and graphical interfaces that allow the presentation and the direct manipulation of information in a pictorial form is now an important part of most of modern graphics software tools211-24

V druhé kapitole následuje představení jednotlivých využitých nástrojů a technologií včetně porovnání platformy Microsoft Silverlight s platformou Adobe Flash. Třetí kapitola popisuje řešení které existovaly v čase psaní této práce. Čtvrtá kapitola popisuje popis herního enginu a návrh jednotlivých částí enginu. Pŕílohy obsahují detailní popis formátu, v kterém se ukládají mapy, obsah přiloženého CD, ukázkový kód v jazyce XAML a v jazyce HLSL.This bachelor's thesis describes the creation of a 2.5D game engine for Microsoft Silverlight 3.0 platform using C# programming language and XAML language to create user interface. Used tools and existing solutions are introduced in the introductory chapters. In following chapters the design and the process of creating the game engine itself is described. In this section multiple design choices for parts of game engine are presented, and the chosen ones are described in more detail together with justification of these choices. In the last part the outcome of the project is evaluated and ideas for further development are presented.
