Influence of the cold work effects in perforated rack columns under pure compression load
This paper analyses the influence of residual stresses and strain hardening due to the cold rollforming process on the load carrying capacity of perforated rack columns. First of all, a residual strain distribution of the manufacturing process is obtained via a finite element analysis and then it is introduced in the model as initial state to carry out a nonlinear buckling analysis. Two different methodologies to introduce the residual strain pattern are presented in order to reproduce the local stress effects because of perforations. Moreover, the changes of the mechanical properties of the material by strain hardening are evaluated through experimental tests and its influence on the rack column behaviour is investigated. The results obtained agree well with experimental tests and show a method to predict the load carrying capacity of perforated rack column taking into account the effects of the cold roll-forming process.Postprint (author’s final draft
Two- and three-cocycles for Laver tables
We determine all 2- and 3-cocycles for Laver tables, an infinite sequence of
finite structures obeying the left-selfdistributivity law; in particular, we
describe simple explicit bases. This provides a number of new positive braid
invariants and paves the way for further potential topological applications.
Incidentally, we establish and study a partial ordering on Laver tables given
by the right-divisibility relation
Integration and Conventional Systems at STAR
At the beginning of the design and construction of the STAR Detector, the
collaboration assigned a team of physicists and engineers the responsibility of
coordinating the construction of the detector. This group managed the general
space assignments for each sub-system and coordinated the assembly and planning
for the detector. Furthermore, as this group was the only STAR group with the
responsibility of looking at the system as a whole, the collaboration assigned
it several tasks that spanned the different sub-detectors. These items included
grounding, rack layout, cable distribution, electrical, power and water, and
safety systems. This paper describes these systems and their performance.Comment: 17 pages, 6 figures, Contribution to a NIM Volume Dedicated to the

(WLAN).
Prestasi lengah lepas tangan dinilai berdasarkan perubahan kadar ralat kerangka
(FER), kadar ketibaan sesi SIP dan halaju hos mobil (MIT) semasa MH bergerak ke
rangkaian UMTS dan WLAN. Keputusan simulasi menunjukkan bahawa lengah lepas
The competitive impact of hypermarket retailers on gasoline prices
Hypermarkets are large retail suppliers of general merchandise or grocery items that also sell gasoline, often at very low margins. Using panel data for 1998-2002, this paper estimates the impact of hypermarkets on average state-level retail gasoline prices. The empirical results suggest a robust, economically (and statistically) significant effect of increased competition from hypermarkets. Furthermore, the results also suggest that refiners’ lower the delivered wholesale prices charged to their affiliated lessee-dealer and open-dealer stations in response to increased hypermarket competition, which in turn translates to lower retail (street) prices. The presence of a state motor fuel sales-below-cost (SBC) law may lessen the price-reducing effects from hypermarket competition by 40-67 percent while independently imparting no other offsetting price reductions. Finally, using recently published estimates of the short-run own price elasticity of demand for gasoline, consumer welfare is estimated to have increased in the neighborhood of $488 million over the sample period.Dealer tank wagon; Hypermarkets; Motor fuel SBC laws; Petroleum; Vertical integration
Recruitment, growth and mortality of an Antarctic hexactinellid sponge, Anoxycalyx joubini.
Polar ecosystems are sensitive to climate forcing, and we often lack baselines to evaluate changes. Here we report a nearly 50-year study in which a sudden shift in the population dynamics of an ecologically important, structure-forming hexactinellid sponge, Anoxycalyx joubini was observed. This is the largest Antarctic sponge, with individuals growing over two meters tall. In order to investigate life history characteristics of Antarctic marine invertebrates, artificial substrata were deployed at a number of sites in the southern portion of the Ross Sea between 1967 and 1975. Over a 22-year period, no growth or settlement was recorded for A. joubini on these substrata; however, in 2004 and 2010, A. joubini was observed to have settled and grown to large sizes on some but not all artificial substrata. This single settlement and growth event correlates with a region-wide shift in phytoplankton productivity driven by the calving of a massive iceberg. We also report almost complete mortality of large sponges followed over 40 years. Given our warming global climate, similar system-wide changes are expected in the future
The MINERA Data Acquisition System and Infrastructure
MINERA (Main INjector ExpeRiment -A) is a new few-GeV neutrino
cross section experiment that began taking data in the FNAL NuMI (Fermi
National Accelerator Laboratory Neutrinos at the Main Injector) beam-line in
March of 2010. MINERA employs a fine-grained scintillator detector capable
of complete kinematic characterization of neutrino interactions. This paper
describes the MINERA data acquisition system (DAQ) including the read-out
electronics, software, and computing architecture.Comment: 34 pages, 16 figure
