Linguistic Summaries and their Use in Business Intelligence

Jedna z klíčových úloh Business Intelligence je interpretace údajů a vědomostí z nich pro podporu rozhodování. Vztahy a agregované informace vysvětlené lingvisticky pomocí jazykových kvantifikátorů jsou lehce srozumitelné pro uživatele Business Intelligence. Cílem práce je prozkoumat lingvistické souhrny a vytvořit dashboard, který z údajů v datovém skladě vydoluje informace a interpretuje je za pomoci krátkých kvantifikovaných vět přirozeného jazyka. Pro dosažení tohoto cíle byla využita reálná procesní data z dodavatelsko-odběratelského řetězce. Výsledkem práce je dashboard pro pracovníky logistiky, kteří za pomoci lingvistických souhrnů jednoduše najdou kořenovou příčinu neefektivity svých procesů. Tohoto bylo docíleno díky krátkým kvantifikovaným větám, jenž shrnují data a jsou schopny zohlednit filtry v rámci dimenzí. Díky tomu je pracovník logistiky schopen za pomoci vět přirozeného jazyka lépe porozumět datům.One of the key roles of Business Intelligence is to interpret data and the knowledge from it to support decision-making. Relationships and aggregated information explained linguistically using linguistic quantifiers are easily understood by Business Intelligence users. The aim of this thesis is to explore linguistic summaries and create a dashboard that extracts information from the data in a data warehouse and interprets it using short quantified natural language sentences. To achieve this goal, real process data from the supply and demand chain was used. The result of the work is a dashboard for logistics workers to easily find the root cause of inefficiencies in their processes using linguistic summaries. This was achieved through short quantified sentences that summarize the data and are able to reflect filters within the dimensions.
