TITLE MANAGER AND CONFLICT IN PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS

In an era of constant change, the management of conflict becomes a common practice. Managers of public organizations are often confronted with conflicts, which forces them to adapt their arsenal of tools, methods and techniques used to solve disputes. The article presents the results of the research undertaken in a public institution about the perception of employees with respect to how managers act when conflicts arise. Trust in public institutions over the business cycle

We document that trust in public institutions—and particularly trust in banks, business and government—has declined over recent years. U.S. time series evidence suggests that this partly reflects the pro-cyclical nature of trust in institutions. Cross-country comparisons reveal a clear legacy of the Great Recession, and those countries whose unemployment grew the most suffered the biggest loss in confidence in institutions, particularly in trust in government and the financial sector. Finally, analysis of several repeated cross-sections of confidence within U.S. states yields similar qualitative patterns, but much smaller magnitudes in response to state-specific shocks.

Public institutions are organized configurations which are prone to institutionalization processes. They reflect as well as produce and diffuse valuues, norms, cognitions, meanings and identities about life and evolution of society, polity or economy. It presents their main hypotheses, their analytical methods, and most relevant findings. Does Public Funding for Higher Education Matter?

This study uses panel data to examine the direct link between state funding and graduation rates at four-year public institutions. When other factors are held constant, a $1,000 increase in state appropriations per FTE student at four-year public institutions is associated with about a one percentage point increase in graduation rates. This positive link appears to hold for all research/doctoral, masters, and baccalaureate institutions. In addition, there is evidence that modest increases (or a decrease) in state funding are associated with rapid increases in tuition rates charged at four-year public institutions, which likely result in an additional negative impact on graduation rates. Simply put, there is no such a thing as free lunch when it comes to graduation rates at public higher education institutions
