Understanding the Cloud Computing Ecosystem: Results from a Quantitative Content Analysis

An increasing number of companies make use of CloudComputing services in order to reduce costs and increaseflexibility of their IT infrastructure. This has enlivened a debateon the benefits and risks of Cloud Computing, among bothpractitioners and researchers. This study applies quantitativecontent analysis to explore the Cloud Computing ecosystem. Theanalyzed data comprises high quality research articles andpractitioner-oriented articles from magazines and web sites. Weapply n-grams and the cluster algorithm k-means to analyze theliterature. The contribution of this paper is twofold: First, itidentifies the key terms and topics that are part of the CloudComputing ecosystem which we aggregated to a comprehensivemodel. Second, this paper discloses the sentiments of key topicsas reflected in articles from both practice and academia

Data Privacy and Trust in Cloud Computing

This open access book brings together perspectives from multiple disciplines including psychology, law, IS, and computer science on data privacy and trust in the cloud. Cloud technology has fueled rapid, dramatic technological change, enabling a level of connectivity that has never been seen before in human history. However, this brave new world comes with problems. Privacy and Security Practices in the Arena of Cloud Computing - A Research in Progress

Cloud Computing has become an important player in the field of IT infrastructure outsourcing. The convenience this new computation model brings can however be easily balanced out by the uncertainty behind the “cloud”. When so many organizations in the private and public sector are looking at cutting costs and resorting to Cloud services, it becomes imperative to investigate the amount of assurance the Cloud vendors give to their clients. In this paper we have thus explored the assurance related information available on the websites of some contemporary Cloud vendors and have tried to investigate if the characteristics of a vendor play any significant role in the vendor’s decision to adopt certain information assurance practices, specifically in the context of Privacy and Security

The two volumes represent the proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik WI2013 (Business Information Systems). They include 118 papers from ten research tracks, a general track and the Student Consortium. The selection of all submissions was subject to a double blind procedure with three reviews for each paper and an overall acceptance rate of 25 percent.
