Picasso: A Modular Framework for Visualizing the Learning Process of Neural Network Image Classifiers
Picasso is a free open-source (Eclipse Public License) web application
written in Python for rendering standard visualizations useful for analyzing
convolutional neural networks. Picasso ships with occlusion maps and saliency
maps, two visualizations which help reveal issues that evaluation metrics like
loss and accuracy might hide: for example, learning a proxy classification
task. Picasso works with the Tensorflow deep learning framework, and Keras
(when the model can be loaded into the Tensorflow backend). Picasso can be used
with minimal configuration by deep learning researchers and engineers alike
across various neural network architectures. Adding new visualizations is
simple: the user can specify their visualization code and HTML template
separately from the application code.Comment: 9 pages, submission to the Journal of Open Research Software,

A posteriori analysis of Chorin-Temam scheme for Stokes equations
We consider Chorin-Temam scheme (the simplest pressure-correction projection
method) for the time-discretization of an unstationary Stokes problem. Inspired
by the analyses of the Backward Euler scheme performed by C.Bernardi and
R.Verf\"urth, we derive a posteriori estimators for the error on the velocity
gradient in L2 norm. Our invesigation is supported by numerical experiments
Status of the PICASSO Project
The Picasso project is a dark matter search experiment based on the
superheated droplet technique. Preliminary runs performed at the Picasso Lab in
Montreal have showed the suitability of this detection technique to the search
for weakly interacting cold dark matter particles. In July 2002, a new phase of
the project started. A batch of six 1-liter detectors with an active mass of
approximately 40g was installed in a gallery of the SNO observatory in Sudbury,
Ontario, Canada at a depth of 6,800 feet (2,070m). We give a status report on
the new experimental setup, data analysis, and preliminary limits on
spin-dependent neutralino interaction cross section.Comment: 3 pages, 2 figures. To appear in the Proceedings of the TAUP 2003

The ‘Right’ Price for Art Collectibles. A Quantile Hedonic Regression Investigation of Picasso Paintings
Different art objects are likely to be priced by means of different systems of hedonic characteristics; more precisely, different evaluation procedures for high and low price items are often postulated. However, the empirical evidence on this point is scant. The main purpose of this paper is to fill this gap by using the quantile hedonic regression approach. The empirical evidence, based on a data set of 716 Picasso paintings sold at auction worldwide, highlights the critical role of the price classes in determining the evaluation criteria of art items.hedonic price; auction; quantile regression; painting; Picasso

Silencio, abuso y locura: Picasso en Art & Lies, de Jeanette Winterson
In Art & Lies (1994), Jeanette Winterson presents three characters who are alter egos of Handel, Picasso, and Sappho. This article focusses on Picasso as an alter ego not only of Pablo Picasso but also of the character itself, whose birth name is Sophia, and of Pablo Picasso’s lovers, who were silenced, abused, and driven to madness like Winterson’s Picasso. The main aspects taken into account are the fact that the character is silenced by her family and that she is sexually abused by her brother in order to understand that her journey towards becoming the madwoman in the attic is induced by the harmful context that she is surrounded by in the same way that occurred to Pablo Picasso’s lovers and to Bertha Mason in Jane Eyre.
