A Survey of MANET Routing Protocols in Large-Scale and Ordinary Networks
An ad hoc network (MANET) consists of mobile nodes that communicate with each other. Routing in ad hoc network is a challenging task
because nodes are mobile. Efficient routing protocols have better performance in such networks. Many protocols have been proposed for ad hoc networks such
as: Ad hoc on-demand Distance Vector (AODV), Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR), Dynamic Source Routing (DSR), and Geographic routing protocol (GRP). these
approaches have not been evaluated for the same conditions in pervious researches. But in this study, the performance of these protocols is evaluated in
various network conditions and with different packet size patterns. Also, different MAC layers like 802.11b, 802.11g in ordinary and large-scale networks are
considered. For the evaluation, Different metrics like packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, Mac delay and Routing traffic received/sent, are applied. All simulations have been done using OPNET
Nuovi protocolli per gestione dati e comunicazione Real-time in ambito agricolo
In the last years, Precision Farming and Farm Automation in Agricultural field, have
been requesting short range wireless communication systems for machine
synchronization and long range wireless communication for fleet management, and
for production and task control in real time. Existing protocols can meet the
requirements only partially: different legislation and product availability in different
countries make it difficult to identify a solution for the global market. TCP/IP
protocol and GPRS/GSM networks meet some requirements for long range
communication, but not for real time communication needed for short range
communication. The synchronization specifications require a real time wireless
communication protocol affordable, safe and with low latency, in order to ensure a
minimum guaranteed throughput apt to synchronize the machine work and travel.
Moreover there are some information security requirements to fulfill in order to
guarantee safe data transmission. The paper presents a comprehensive proposal based
on UDP and IP protocols with embedded controls, apt to create an isochronous
wireless communication for machine synchronization, and some other methods and
protocols to fulfill long range data communication requirements of the Agricultural
field
Evaluation of MANET Routing Protocols in Realistic Environments
Projecte final de carrera realitzat en col.laboració amb College of Electronics and Information Engineering. Tongji UniversityRecently, many researchers have become interested in MANET (Mobile Ad-hoc NET-
works) to construct a self-con gurable network without existing communication infras-
tructure. This research presents the results of a detailed performance evaluation on
several MANET routing protocols working under realistic environments. The routing
protocols, mobility models and other aspects are explained and discussed in order to
know how to use them properly to model real-life conditions. NS-2 and Bonnmotion
were used to create the networks, services and environment characteristics in general.
It is concluded which protocols can handle which applications and which not and
that the performance of the protocols can be considerably di erent when more and
more realistic elements are taken into account. This should be considered in further
researches since the nowadays evolution of MANET will bring them soon into services
of our society
