    Fuzzy Automata: A Quantitative Review

    Get PDF
Classical automata theory cannot deal with the system uncertainty. To deal with the system uncertainty the concept of fuzzy finite automata was proposed. Fuzzy automata can be used in diverse applications such as fault detection, pattern matching, measuring the fuzziness between strings, description of natural languages, neural network, lexical analysis, image processing, scheduling problem and many more. In this paper, a methodical literature review is carried out on various research works in the field of Fuzzy automata and explained the challenging issues in the field of fuzzy automata

A Stress-Detection System Based on Physiological Signals and Fuzzy Logic

A stress-detection system is proposed based on physiological signals. Concretely, galvanic skin response (GSR) and heart rate (HR) are proposed to provide information on the state of mind of an individual, due to their nonintrusiveness and noninvasiveness. Furthermore, specific psychological experiments were designed to induce properly stress on individuals in order to acquire a database for training, validating, and testing the proposed system. Such system is based on fuzzy logic, and it described the behavior of an individual under stressing stimuli in terms of HR and GSR. The stress-detection accuracy obtained is 99.5% by acquiring HR and GSR during a period of 10 s, and what is more, rates over 90% of success are achieved by decreasing that acquisition period to 3-5 s. Finally, this paper comes up with a proposal that an accurate stress detection only requires two physiological signals, namely, HR and GSR, and the fact that the proposed stress-detection system is suitable for real-time applications

Nowadays, determining faults in non-stationary environment and that can deal with the problems of fuzziness impreciseness and subjectivity is a challenging task in complex systems such as nuclear center, or wind turbines, etc. Our objective in this paper is to develop models based on fuzzy finite state automaton with fuzzy variables describing the industrial process in order to detect anomalies in real time and possibly in anticipation. A diagnosis method has for goal to alert actors responsible for managing operations and resources, able to adapt to the emergence of new procedures or improvisation in the case of unexpected situations. The diagnoser module use the outputs events and membership values of each active state of the model as input events
