A Review of Wireless Sensor Networks with Cognitive Radio Techniques and Applications
The advent of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) has inspired various sciences and telecommunication with its applications, there is a growing demand for robust methodologies that can ensure extended lifetime. Sensor nodes are small equipment which may hold less electrical energy and preserve it until they reach the destination of the network. The main concern is supposed to carry out sensor routing process along with transferring information. Choosing the best route for transmission in a sensor node is necessary to reach the destination and conserve energy. Clustering in the network is considered to be an effective method for gathering of data and routing through the nodes in wireless sensor networks. The primary requirement is to extend network lifetime by minimizing the consumption of energy. Further integrating cognitive radio technique into sensor networks, that can make smart choices based on knowledge acquisition, reasoning, and information sharing may support the network's complete purposes amid the presence of several limitations and optimal targets. This examination focuses on routing and clustering using metaheuristic techniques and machine learning because these characteristics have a detrimental impact on cognitive radio wireless sensor node lifetime
A Comprehensive Survey on Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm and Its Applications
Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is a heuristic global optimization method, proposed originally by Kennedy and Eberhart in 1995. It is now one of the most commonly used optimization techniques. This survey presented a comprehensive investigation of PSO. On one hand, we provided advances with PSO, including its modifications (including quantum-behaved PSO, bare-bones PSO, chaotic PSO, and fuzzy PSO), population topology (as fully connected, von Neumann, ring, star, random, etc.), hybridization (with genetic algorithm, simulated annealing, Tabu search, artificial immune system, ant colony algorithm, artificial bee colony, differential evolution, harmonic search, and biogeography-based optimization), extensions (to multiobjective, constrained, discrete, and binary optimization), theoretical analysis (parameter selection and tuning, and convergence analysis), and parallel implementation (in multicore, multiprocessor, GPU, and cloud computing forms). On the other hand, we offered a survey on applications of PSO to the following eight fields: electrical and electronic engineering, automation control systems, communication theory, operations research, mechanical engineering, fuel and energy, medicine, chemistry, and biology. It is hoped that this survey would be beneficial for the researchers studying PSO algorithms
Optimisation of Mobile Communication Networks - OMCO NET
The mini conference “Optimisation of Mobile Communication Networks” focuses on advanced methods for search and optimisation applied to wireless communication networks. It is sponsored by Research & Enterprise Fund Southampton Solent University.
The conference strives to widen knowledge on advanced search methods capable of optimisation of wireless communications networks. The aim is to provide a forum for exchange of recent knowledge, new ideas and trends in this progressive and challenging area. The conference will popularise new successful approaches on resolving hard tasks such as minimisation of transmit power, cooperative and optimal routing
Wireless Mesh Networks Based on MBPSO Algorithm to Improvement Throughput
Wireless Mesh Networks can be regarded as a type of communication technology in mesh topology in which wireless nodes interconnect with one another. Wireless Mesh Networks depending on the semi-static configuration in different paths among nodes such as PDR, E2E delay and throughput. This study summarized different types of previous heuristic algorithms in order to adapt with proper algorithm that could solve the issue. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to determine the proper methods, approaches or algorithms that should be adapted to improve the throughput. A Modified Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (MBPSO) approach was adapted to improvements the throughput. Finally, the finding shows that throughput increased by 5.79% from the previous study
Optimized Neural Network Using Differential Evolutionary and Swarm Intelligence Optimization Algorithms for RF Power Prediction in Cognitive Radio Network: A Comparative study
Cognitive radio (CR) technology has emerged as
a promising solution to many wireless communication problems
including spectrum scarcity and underutilization. The a priory
knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) power (primary signals and/
or interfering signals plus noise) in the channels to be exploited by
CR is of paramount importance. This will enable the selection of
channel with less noise among idle (free) channels. Computational
Intelligence (CI) techniques can be applied to these scenarios to
predict the required RF power in the available channels to achieve
optimum Quality of Service (QoS). In this paper, we developed a
time domain based optimized Artificial Neural Network (ANN)
model for the prediction of real world RF power within the GSM
900, Very High Frequency (VHF) and Ultra High Frequency
(UHF) TV bands. The application of the models produced was
found to increase the robustness of CR applications, specifically
where the CR had no prior knowledge of the RF power related
parameters such as signal to noise ratio, bandwidth and bit
error rate. The models used, implemented a novel and innovative
initial weight optimization of the ANN’s through the use of
differential evolutionary and swarm intelligence algorithms. This
was found to enhance the accuracy and generalization of the
ANN model. For this problem, DE/best/1/bin was found to yield
a better performance as compared with the other algorithms
implemented
A binary particle swarm optimization approach for power system security enhancement
Improvement of power system security manages the errand of making healing move against conceivable system overloads in the framework following the events of contingencies. Generation re-dispatching is answer for the evacuation of line overloads. The issue is the minimization of different goals viz. minimization of fuel cost, minimization of line loadings and minimization of overall severity index. Binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO) method was utilized to take care of optimal power flow issue with different targets under system contingencies. The inspiration to introduce BPSO gets from the way that, in rivalry with other meta-heuristics, BPSO has demonstrated to be a champ by and large, putting a technique as a genuine alternative when one needs to take care of a complex optimization problem. The positioning is assessed utilizing fuzzy logic. Simulation Results on IEEE-14 and IEEE-30 bus systems are presented with different objectives
