In the Paper are treated the Principles and the Implementation of the Cataloguization and Classification in USA, with a special overview on modern streams. The main goal of the organization of Library Holdings is the satisfaction of different User’s needs for Information. The organization of Knowledge in the Libraries implies the organization of several different types of information and media. In the Paper are described the Anglo-American Rules for Cataloguization and MARC, as standards for the alphabetical Cataloguization. As well the influence of the cooperative cataloguization and the usage of computer technology within the development of these Standards. One can find also a brief description of Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) and the Classification of the Congress Library in Washington D.C, as the two dominating classificational Systems. Followed by the description of the controled dictionnaries, with special overview on Subject Heading of the Congress Library. The Paper treats also the Problem of Information on the Internet, as well proliferation of the Material in electronic format, which requires the incorporation in traditional library Catalogues

Evaluasi Kapabilitas Dan Efektivitas Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) Sebagai Sarana Temu Kembali Di Perpustakaan Universitas Islam Negeri Di Indonesia

Perpustakaan berkewajiban menyediakan akses ke sumber informasi yang dimiliki oleh perpustakaan lewat sarana temu kembali informasi menjadisalah satu tugas penting perpustakaan.OPAC adalah salah satu sarana temu kembali informasi yangberfungsi memberitahu kepada pengguna apa yang dimiliki oleh perpustakaan, apalagi saat ini katalog dikembangkan dalam bentuk online yaitu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kelengkapan fasilitas dan kapabilitas searching dan browsing pada OPAC perpustakaan UIN. Selain itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi precision (ketepatan) OPAC sebagai sarana temu kembali informasi dan mengujinapakah fasilitas searching berpengaruh terhadap tingkat precision.Dengan menggunakan data kualitatis yaitu yang berkaitan dengan kelengkapan fasilitas searching dan browsing, maka peneliti mencoba untuk melihat efektivitas OPAC Perpustakaan Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) sebagai system temu kembali dengan mengambil lima OPAC UIN sebagai sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada beberapa fasilitas searching dan browsing yang tidak dimilikioleh OPAC UIN seperti menu bantuan penelusuran,keterbtasan deskripsi bibliografi. Dan OPAC yang memiliki fasilitas yang paling lengkap memiliki ketepatan yang tinggi sedangkan yang memiliki fasilitas paling minim memiliki nilai ketepatan yang rendah

Still a Lot to Lose: The Role of Controlled Vocabulary in Keyword Searching

In their 2005 study, Gross and Taylor found that more than a third of records retrieved by keyword searches would be lost without subject headings. A review of the literature since then shows that numerous studies, in various disciplines, have found that a quarter to a third of records returned in a keyword search would be lost without controlled vocabulary. Other writers, though, have continued to suggest that controlled vocabulary be discontinued. Addressing criticisms of the Gross/Taylor study, this study replicates the search process in the same online catalog, but after the addition of automated enriched metadata such as tables of contents and summaries. The proportion of results that would be lost remains high

MEASUREMENT AND VALIDATION OF ENTREPRENEURIAL COMPETENCY SCALE

  The current study is intended to explore the dimensions of entrepreneurial competency construct and the factors that make up each dimension. Entrepreneurial competency is measured in the present study through a survey conducted among small and medium entrepreneurs. Potential indicators are identified from the existing literature. Different researchers use different aspects of competency to track the level of entrepreneurial competency possessed by small and medium entrepreneurs across the world. The existing literature is not providing any evidence of a standardized, validated and self-administered entrepreneurial competency scale. Most of the studies conducted in the field either depends on general competency model or focus on only qualitative aspects of competency
