    A novel multi-fold security framework for cognitive radio wireless ad-hoc networks

    Cognitive Radio (CR) Technology has emerged as a smart and intelligent technology to address the problem of spectrum scarcity and its under-utilization. CR nodes sense the environment for vacant channels, exchange control information, and agree upon free channels list (FCL) to use for data transmission and conclusion. CR technology is heavily dependent on the control channel to dialogue on the exchanged control information which is usually in the Industrial-Scientific-Medical (ISM) band. As the ISM band is publically available this makes the CR network more prone to security vulnerabilities and flaws. In this paper a novel multi-fold security framework for cognitive radio wireless ad-hoc networks has been proposed. Multiple security levels, such as, encryption of beacon frame and privately exchanging the FCL, and the dynamic and adaptive behaviour of the framework makes the proposed protocol more resilient and secure against the traditional security attacks when compared with existing protocols

    Exploratory study to explore the role of ICT in the process of knowledge management in an Indian business environment

    In the 21st century and the emergence of a digital economy, knowledge and the knowledge base economy are rapidly growing. To effectively be able to understand the processes involved in the creating, managing and sharing of knowledge management in the business environment is critical to the success of an organization. This study builds on the previous research of the authors on the enablers of knowledge management by identifying the relationship between the enablers of knowledge management and the role played by information communication technologies (ICT) and ICT infrastructure in a business setting. This paper provides the findings of a survey collected from the four major Indian cities (Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Villupuram) regarding their views and opinions about the enablers of knowledge management in business setting. A total of 80 organizations participated in the study with 100 participants in each city. The results show that ICT and ICT infrastructure can play a critical role in the creating, managing and sharing of knowledge in an Indian business environment

    Much effort has been taken to make WiMAX a secure technology. Due to its broadcast nature, WiMAX is more susceptible to security threats than a wired network. In this paper, we give a general overview of the security architecture and possible attacks that a WiMAX network may face. For each type of attack the misbehaviour metrics that may vary under these attacks are listed. This work can be used to select an appropriate threshold for detecting attack and can be applied to future research on IDS

    Multicast Scheduling and Resource Allocation Algorithms for OFDMA-Based Systems: A Survey

    Multicasting is emerging as an enabling technology for multimedia transmissions over wireless networks to support several groups of users with flexible quality of service (QoS)requirements. Although multicast has huge potential to push the limits of next generation communication systems; it is however one of the most challenging issues currently being addressed. In this survey, we explain multicast group formation and various forms of group rate determination approaches. We also provide a systematic review of recent channel-aware multicast scheduling and resource allocation (MSRA) techniques proposed for downlink multicast services in OFDMA based systems. We study these enabling algorithms, evaluate their core characteristics, limitations and classify them using multidimensional matrix. We cohesively review the algorithms in terms of their throughput maximization, fairness considerations, performance complexities, multi-antenna support, optimality and simplifying assumptions. We discuss existing standards employing multicasting and further highlight some potential research opportunities in multicast systems

    Performance Comparison of Dynamic Guard Channel Assignment with Buffered Prioritized Scheme for Mobile WiMAX Network

    Abstract—Priority is usually given to handover traffic in mobile communication but doing so has the tendency of increasing call blocking probability. It was said previously that non-prioritized call traffic channel assignment scheme reduces call blocking probability more than other basic channel assignment schemes at high handover traffic intensities. A comparison of channel assignment schemes by analysis and MATLAB simulation in this research has shown that dynamic guard channel assignment scheme based on channel utilization minimizes call blocking probability better than non-prioritized, prioritized guard channel and prioritized guard channel with queue/buffer. The wireless technology used was Mobile WiMAX with mobile assisted handover (MAHO) and the queueing policy employed was M/M/C/Q with FCFS service discipline
