On the Design of a Web-Based Decision Support System for Brain Tumour Diagnosis Using Distributed Agents

This paper introduces HealthAgents, an EC-funded research project to improve the classification of brain tumours through multi-agent decision support over a distributed network of local databases or Data Marts. HealthAgents will not only develop new pattern recognition methods for a distributed classification and analysis of in vivo MRS and ex vivo/in vitro HRMAS and DNA data, but also define a method to assess the quality and usability of a new candidate local database containing a set of new cases, based on a compatibility score

Data integration in eHealth: a domain/disease specific roadmap

The paper documents a series of data integration workshops held in 2006 at the UK National e-Science Centre, summarizing a range of the problem/solution scenarios in multi-site and multi-scale data integration with six HealthGrid projects using schizophrenia as a domain-specific test case. It outlines emerging strategies, recommendations and objectives for collaboration on shared ontology-building and harmonization of data for multi-site trials in this domain

Conceptual Graphs Based Information Retrieval in HealthAgents

This paper focuses on the problem of representing, in a meaningful way, the knowledge involved in the HealthAgents project. Our work is motivated by the complexity of representing Electronic Health-care Records in a consistent manner. We present HADOM (HealthAgents Domain Ontology) which conceptualises the required HealthAgents information and propose describing the sources knowledge by the means of Conceptual Graphs (CGs). This allows to build upon the existing ontology permitting for modularity and °exibility. The novelty of our approach lies in the ease with which CGs can be placed above other formalisms and their potential for optimised querying and retrieval
