    On Lyapunov sampling for event-driven controllers

    This paper investigates an event condition for event-driven controllers based on Lyapunov functions. Considering that constant values of a Lyapunov function define contour curves that form closed regions around the equilibrium point, in this paper we present a sampling mechanism that enforces job executions (sampling, control algorithm computation and actuation) each time the system trajectory reaches a given contour curve. By construction, the sequence of generated samples is stable in the discrete Lyapunov sense. However, in order to ensure that the system trajectory will tend to zero as time tends to infinity, it must be ensured that the sequence of samples is infinite.     Time-and event-driven communication process for networked control systems: A survey

In particular, an urgent need has arisen to understand the effects of communication processes on system performances. Sampling and protocol are two fundamental aspects of a communication process which have attracted a great deal of research attention. Most research focus has been on the analysis and control of dynamical behaviors under certain sampling procedures and communication protocols. In this paper, we aim to survey some recent advances on the analysis and synthesis issues of NCSs with different sampling procedures (time-and event-driven sampling) and protocols (static and dynamic protocols). First, these sampling procedures and protocols are introduced in detail according to their engineering backgrounds as well as dynamic natures. Then, the developments of the stabilization, control, and filtering problems are systematically reviewed and discussed in great detail.     Model predictive control techniques for hybrid systems

    This paper describes the main issues encountered when applying model predictive control to hybrid processes. Hybrid model predictive control (HMPC) is a research field non-fully developed with many open challenges. The paper describes some of the techniques proposed by the research community to overcome the main problems encountered. Issues related to the stability and the solution of the optimization problem are also discussed.
