Linear Codes from Some 2-Designs
A classical method of constructing a linear code over \gf(q) with a
-design is to use the incidence matrix of the -design as a generator
matrix over \gf(q) of the code. This approach has been extensively
investigated in the literature. In this paper, a different method of
constructing linear codes using specific classes of -designs is studied, and
linear codes with a few weights are obtained from almost difference sets,
difference sets, and a type of -designs associated to semibent functions.
Two families of the codes obtained in this paper are optimal. The linear codes
presented in this paper have applications in secret sharing and authentication
schemes, in addition to their applications in consumer electronics,
communication and data storage systems. A coding-theory approach to the
characterisation of highly nonlinear Boolean functions is presented
A Class of Three-Weight Cyclic Codes
Cyclic codes are a subclass of linear codes and have applications in consumer
electronics, data storage systems, and communication systems as they have
efficient encoding and decoding algorithms. In this paper, a class of
three-weight cyclic codes over \gf(p) whose duals have two zeros is
presented, where is an odd prime. The weight distribution of this class of
cyclic codes is settled. Some of the cyclic codes are optimal. The duals of a
subclass of the cyclic codes are also studied and proved to be optimal.Comment: 11 Page
On the Equivalence of Quadratic APN Functions
Establishing the CCZ-equivalence of a pair of APN functions is generally
quite difficult. In some cases, when seeking to show that a putative new
infinite family of APN functions is CCZ inequivalent to an already known
family, we rely on computer calculation for small values of n. In this paper we
present a method to prove the inequivalence of quadratic APN functions with the
Gold functions. Our main result is that a quadratic function is CCZ-equivalent
to an APN Gold function if and only if it is EA-equivalent to that Gold
function. As an application of this result, we prove that a trinomial family of
APN functions that exist on finite fields of order 2^n where n = 2 mod 4 are
CCZ inequivalent to the Gold functions. The proof relies on some knowledge of
the automorphism group of a code associated with such a function.Comment: 13 p
Effective Construction of a Class of Bent Quadratic Boolean Functions
In this paper, we consider the characterization of the bentness of quadratic
Boolean functions of the form where ,
is even and . For a general , it is difficult to determine
the bentness of these functions. We present the bentness of quadratic Boolean
function for two cases: and , where and are two
distinct primes. Further, we give the enumeration of quadratic bent functions
for the case
Spectral Orbits and Peak-to-Average Power Ratio of Boolean Functions with respect to the {I,H,N}^n Transform
We enumerate the inequivalent self-dual additive codes over GF(4) of
blocklength n, thereby extending the sequence A090899 in The On-Line
Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences from n = 9 to n = 12. These codes have a
well-known interpretation as quantum codes. They can also be represented by
graphs, where a simple graph operation generates the orbits of equivalent
codes. We highlight the regularity and structure of some graphs that correspond
to codes with high distance. The codes can also be interpreted as quadratic
Boolean functions, where inequivalence takes on a spectral meaning. In this
context we define PAR_IHN, peak-to-average power ratio with respect to the
{I,H,N}^n transform set. We prove that PAR_IHN of a Boolean function is
equivalent to the the size of the maximum independent set over the associated
orbit of graphs. Finally we propose a construction technique to generate
Boolean functions with low PAR_IHN and algebraic degree higher than 2.Comment: Presented at Sequences and Their Applications, SETA'04, Seoul, South
