Resource Allocation for Network-Integrated Device-to-Device Communications Using Smart Relays
With increasing number of autonomous heterogeneous devices in future mobile
networks, an efficient resource allocation scheme is required to maximize
network throughput and achieve higher spectral efficiency. In this paper,
performance of network-integrated device-to-device (D2D) communication is
investigated where D2D traffic is carried through relay nodes. An optimization
problem is formulated for allocating radio resources to maximize end-to-end
rate as well as conversing QoS requirements for cellular and D2D user equipment
under total power constraint. Numerical results show that there is a distance
threshold beyond which relay-assisted D2D communication significantly improves
network performance when compared to direct communication between D2D peers
How to Understand LMMSE Transceiver Design for MIMO Systems From Quadratic Matrix Programming
In this paper, a unified linear minimum mean-square-error (LMMSE) transceiver
design framework is investigated, which is suitable for a wide range of
wireless systems. The unified design is based on an elegant and powerful
mathematical programming technology termed as quadratic matrix programming
(QMP). Based on QMP it can be observed that for different wireless systems,
there are certain common characteristics which can be exploited to design LMMSE
transceivers e.g., the quadratic forms. It is also discovered that evolving
from a point-to-point MIMO system to various advanced wireless systems such as
multi-cell coordinated systems, multi-user MIMO systems, MIMO cognitive radio
systems, amplify-and-forward MIMO relaying systems and so on, the quadratic
nature is always kept and the LMMSE transceiver designs can always be carried
out via iteratively solving a number of QMP problems. A comprehensive framework
on how to solve QMP problems is also given. The work presented in this paper is
likely to be the first shoot for the transceiver design for the future
ever-changing wireless systems.Comment: 31 pages, 4 figures, Accepted by IET Communication
End to End Performance Analysis of Relay Cooperative Communication Based on Parked Cars
Parking lots (PLs) are usually full with cars. If these cars are formed into
a self-organizing vehicular network, they can be new kind of road side units
(RSUs) in urban area to provide communication data forwarding between mobile
terminals nearby and a base station. However cars in PLs can leave at any time,
which is neglected in the existing studies. In this paper, we investigate relay
cooperative communication based on parked cars in PLs. Taking the impact of the
car's leaving behavior into consideration, we derive the expressions of outage
probability in a two-hop cooperative communication and its link capacity.
Finally, the numerical results show that the impact of a car's arriving time is
greater than the impact of the duration the car has parked on outage
probability.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures, accepted by ICACT201
Power Allocation for Adaptive OFDM Index Modulation in Cooperative Networks
In this paper, we propose a power allocation strategy for the adaptive
orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) index modulation (IM) in
cooperative networks. The allocation strategy is based on the
Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions, and aims at maximizing the average network
capacity according to the instantaneous channel state information (CSI). As the
transmit power at source and relay is constrained separately, we can thus
formulate an optimization problem by allocating power to active subcarriers.
Compared to the conventional uniform power allocation strategy, the proposed
dynamic strategy can lead to a higher average network capacity, especially in
the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region. The analysis is also verified by
numerical results produced by Monte Carlo simulations. By applying the proposed
power allocation strategy, the efficiency of adaptive OFDM IM can be enhanced
in practice, which paves the way for its implementation in the future,
especially for cell-edge communications
