    The INCF Secretariat organized a workshop to focus on the “role of neuroinformatics in the processes of building, evaluating, and using genetic animal models for brain diseases” in Stockholm, December 13–14, 2009. Eight scientists specialized in the fields of neuroinformatics, database, ontologies, and brain disease participated together with two representatives of the National Institutes of Health and the European Union, as well as three observers of the national INCF nodes of Norway, Poland, and the United Kingdom

    Simulation α of EEG using brain network model

    In this paper, we developed a large-scale brain network model comprising of four cerebral areas in the left hemisphere, and each area is modelled as an oscillator Jansen and Rit (JR) model. Our model is based on the structural connectivity of human connectome (SC) which was a hybrid from CoCoMac neuroinformatics database and diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI.) This brain network model was designed and implemented on the neuroinformatics platform using The Virtual Brain (TVB v1.5.3). The results demonstrated that incorporating the large-scale connectivity of brain regions and neural mass of JR model can generate signals similar to the α oscillation in frequency range of (7-12HZ) of EEG

    The Neuroscience Information Framework: A Data and Knowledge Environment for Neuroscience

    With support from the Institutes and Centers forming the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research, we have designed and implemented a new initiative for integrating access to and use of Web-based neuroscience resources: the Neuroscience Information Framework. The Framework arises from the expressed need of the neuroscience community for neuroinformatic tools and resources to aid scientific inquiry, builds upon prior development of neuroinformatics by the Human Brain Project and others, and directly derives from the Society for Neuroscience’s Neuroscience Database Gateway. Partnered with the Society, its Neuroinformatics Committee, and volunteer consultant-collaborators, our multi-site consortium has developed: (1) a comprehensive, dynamic, inventory of Web-accessible neuroscience resources, (2) an extended and integrated terminology describing resources and contents, and (3) a framework accepting and aiding concept-based queries.
