Inspired by the recent developments of the Internet of Things (IoT) relay and mobile edge computing (MEC), a hospital/home-based medical monitoring framework is proposed, in which the intensive computing tasks from the implanted sensors can be efficiently executed by on-body wearable devices or a coordinator-based MEC (C-MEC). In this paper, we first propose a wireless relay-enabled task offloading mechanism that consists of a network model and a computation model. Moreover, to manage the computation resources among all relays, a task offloading decision model and the best task offloading recipient selection function is given. The performance evaluation considers different computation schemes under the predetermined link quality condition regarding the selected vital quality of service (QoS) metrics. After demonstrating the channel characterization and network topology, the performance evaluation is implemented under different scenarios regarding the network lifetime of all relays, network residual energy status, total number of locally executed packets, path loss (PL), and service delay. The results show that data transmission without the offloading scheme outperforms the offload-based technique regarding network lifetime. Moreover, the high computation capacity scenario achieves better performance regarding PL and the total number of locally executed packets

Internet of Things (IoT) is a novel and emerging paradigm to connect real/physical and virtual/logical world together. So, it will be necessary to apply other related scientific concepts in order to achieve this goal. The main focus of this paper is to identify the research topics in IoT. For this purpose, a comprehensive study has been conducted on the vast range of research articles. IoT concepts and issues are classified into some research domains and sub-domains based on the analysis of reviewed papers that have been published in 2015 & 2016. Then, these domains and sub-domains have been discussed as well as it is reported their statistical results. The obtained results of analysis show the most of the IoT research works are concentrated on technology and software services domains similarly at first rank, communication at second rank and trust management at third rank with 19%, 14% and 13% respectively. Also, a more accurate analysis indicates the most important and challenging sub-domains of mentioned domains which are: WSN, cloud computing, smart applications, M2M communication and security. Accordingly, this study will offer a useful and applicable broad viewpoint for researchers. In fact, our study indicates the current trends of IoT area

The purpose of this research is to find out how Internet of Things maturity models can be used in organizations to determine the current level and target level of the Internet of Things. By defining the current level and the target level, it is possible to find out what kind of development steps the organization should take to reach the desired level. In addition, the research aims at identifying the benefits of the Internet of Things for the business operations of organizations. With the help of models, the maturity of the organization can be determined from several different subject areas of the Internet of Things. In this case study, an Internet of Things maturity model is customized for the target organization. The model evaluates the maturity of the organization in the dimensions of governance, technology and connectivity, data-analytics based decision making, people and processes. These areas are divided into even smaller sub-dimensions, the maturity of which is assessed separately. In addition, the research also investigates the current level and target level of the Internet of Things maturity of the target organization through interviews conducted in the target organization. Based on the definitions of the current level and the target level, a road map is created for the target organization. The target organization’s current maturity is between levels 2–3 in each dimension. Levels 3–4 were initially defined as the target. The research also revealed that to develop the target organization's maturity, improving the governance dimension is critical to raise the maturity of other dimensions. A 6-phase plan was drawn up for the target organization to reach the target level
