The National Institute of Standards and Technology: An Overview

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a mandate to increase the competitiveness of U.S. firms and provide the measurement, calibration, and quality assurance techniques that underpin U.S. commerce. Congressional debate has focused on the merits of NIST’s external R&D programs directed toward increased private sector commercialization, including the Advanced Technology Program (ATP) and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP). The level of funding for internal research efforts has also been scrutinized by Congress. FY2006 appropriations legislation provided $752 million for NIST, an increase of 8.2$675 million for FY2007. The President’s FY2008 budget request for NIST totals $640.7 million and includes a significant cut in support for MEP and no funding for ATP. This report will be updated as events warrant

AUDIT KEBERLANGSUNGAN LAYANAN PADA PERUSAHAAN JASA PENGIRIMAN BERBASIS COBIT 5 DAN NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF STANDARDS AND TECHNOLOGY (NIST)

ABSTRAK Jasa Pengiriman merupakan layanan jasa pengiriman dokumen penting, surat, dan barang berharga dalam waktu pengiriman yang cepat dalam kurun waktu satu hari atau semalam baik dalam kota maupun antar kota. Saat ini berbagai macam masalah yang ditemukan terjadi di Jasa Pengiriman baik dalam keamanan penyimpanan data transaksi pelanggan, transaksi pengiriman dan penerimaan barang kiriman. Salah satu faktor penyebab masalah terhentinya proses bisnis layanan pengiriman adalah terjadinya bencana yang dapat mengurangi kinerja TI sehingga menyebabkan akivitas bisnis terhambat atau bahkan terhenti. Kondisi inilah yang seharusnya dapat diterapkan oleh perusahaan dalam penerapan Continuity plan . Untuk mengukur permasalahan dan tingkat keberhasilan perusahaan terhadap keberlangsungan layanan/Continuity plan diperlukan sebuah penelitian audit keberlangsungan layanan yaitu menilai kesiapan perusahaan dalam menangani gangguan/bencana dan lebih siap menghadapi bencana/gangguan yang akan terjadi. Penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu menilai efektifitas terkait kontrol-kontrol Continuity plan, yaitu keberadaan struktur organisasi Continuity plan, penerapan Risk Assessment, penerapan Business Impact Analysis, penerapan kontrol preventif, penerapan lingkup prosedur backup dan recovery dimasing-masing bagian, Compliance Testing, dan Substantive Testing. Penelitian yang dilakukan menggunakan framework COBIT 5 dan INTOSAI. Hasil penelitian audit keberlangsungan layanan pada Jasa Pengiriman berupa rekomendasi dari proses hasil penilian efektifitas kontrol pada Compliance Testing dan Subtantive Testing yang disusun pada proses analisa temuan. Sehingga dari penelitian audit keberlangsungan tersebut bisa memberikan sebuah solusi agar kedepannya perusahaan bisa mengetahui seberapa besar tingkat keberhasilan dan kesiapan dalam pengelolaan yang di terapkan pada sebuah perusahaan dan lebih memahami tentang kebutuhan yang tertinggal dalam pencapaian visi dan misi perusahaan. The NIST compilation of ionization potentials revisited (I): From He-like to Xe-like ions

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) database on ionization potentials for neutral atoms and ions is examined. For each isoelectronic sequence, we construct a regularized perturbative series that exactly matches the large-$Z$ and $Z\approx N-1$ regions. Comparison of the NIST data with this series allows the identification of problematic values in the reported data.Comment: 19 pages, 43 figure
