The advancement of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the Internet revolution gave rise to the several learning technologies on the web and mobile platform. During the last decade, the social media network became available for users to socialise and collaborate among peer group. Hence, The integration of e-learning and social media using mobile device as access point is to allow for learning and collaboration anytime, anywhere. This study seeks to provide learning on the social network platform for users to view the application on a mobile device and also foster collaboration among scholars. The system was developed using an open source Content Management System (CMS) Wordpress and Buddypress running on a WAMP or XAMPP server. MySQL was used as database. The usability of the System on the different mobile devices used was evaluated by identifying the usability attributes; designing a questionnaire based on those attributes and then analyzing the results with Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The results showed that the learning system had a good usability score on mobile device

This project focuses on developing a mobile application that includes the major functionalities of the UTP E-Learning website which are used by students, into a stand-alone mobile application(M-Learning). UTP E-Learning is a website created for students to ease the usage of the website, it is also a platform for the students to upload and download any education related notes or files. Despite the importance of UTP E-Learning website to all students, the effectiveness and efficiency of this website are still not up to its maximum potential. Students are not really utilizing this website to its maximum potential simply because they are not surfing this site very often when they are mobile or away from a pc. Hence any important announcements made by lecturers or by UTP itself, sometimes do not reach the students in time. The role of UTP E-Learning website in helping the students in their studies could be a failure if it is not fully utilized in the best possible manner. Hence, the main objective of this project is to develop a platform for the students to use the UTP E-Learning website through a mobile device(Android). Besides that, this project revolves around the study of the primary usage of E-learning website to find out the key features that will be included in the application. The interaction process will be easier as the M-Learning will be installed into their mobile phone as a android application. The added advantages of my project are it allows lecturers and staffs to post important announcements wherever they are using their smart phones. Moreover, it also allow students to access the E-learning system at any time using only their smart phone, view important announcements, download lecture notes as well as modifying their profile. The methodology used to develop this project is Rapid Application Development. In a nutshell, M-Learning is a mobile application that will help students to utilize the E-Learning website in an easy and portable platform

E-Learning system has dominated the internet-based distance education for the past two decades. With the advance of mobile technology, the use of mobile device as m-learning platform has now becoming a new way of e-learning that deliver knowledge at any time any place. However, the limitation of mobile devices compared to computers give challenges to the developers in developing good m-learning applications. Aspects such as content design, navigation design and mobile HCI are critical and need extra attention during the development phase. MMCD is a set of development framework and methodology designed for multimedia mobile content development using Flash Lite technology. This research will present the MMCD framework and methodology for converting e-learning application into m-learning application to ease and guide the development process

Mobile learning is the kind of learning that applies mainly to non-formal education actions from the perspective of continuing education. Within the scope of companies, the demand for educational actions is increasing, notably focused on distance education and training, aimed at both internal and external audiences. However, for the implementation of activities dedicated to mobile learning, it is necessary to develop a digital platform to host the virtual learning environment. Under these conditions, it should be structured in a flexible format and design to encourage interactivity between learners and teachers in the implementation of teaching and learning activities. The article presents and discusses a proposal for a digital mobile platform, called e-Códex, which aims to support educational actions, to promote collaboration and learning, as well as to meet the information dissemination and knowledge generation needs of the Brazilian agroforestry sector

The LAB@FUTURE Project - Moving Towards the Future of E-Learning

This paper presents Lab@Future, an advanced e-learning platform that uses novel Information and Communication Technologies to support and expand laboratory teaching practices. For this purpose, Lab@Future uses real and computer-generated objects that are interfaced using mechatronic systems, augmented reality, mobile technologies and 3D multi user environments. The main aim is to develop and demonstrate technological support for practical experiments in the following focused subjects namely: Fluid Dynamics - Science subject in Germany, Geometry - Mathematics subject in Austria, History and Environmental Awareness – Arts and Humanities subjects in Greece and Slovenia. In order to pedagogically enhance the design and functional aspects of this e-learning technology, we are investigating the dialogical operationalisation of learning theories so as to leverage our understanding of teaching and learning practices in the targeted context of deployment

Fuzzy Logic A Soft Computing Approach For E-Learning: A Qualitative Review

E-learning model has been developed rapidly because of development in technology, mobile platform such as smart phone and pad etc. But due to low rate of completion of e-learning platform it is necessary to analyze behavior characteristics of online learners which enhance the quality of learning. This can be achieved by recommending suitable e-contents available in learning servers that are based on learning style, learning pattern, time, environment, psychology and mood of learners. All these factors are uncertain. In such case fuzzy logic and neural network approach of soft computing is desirable to use and helps to take decision for prediction of e-learning. The aim of this paper is to study development and work in e-learning, adaptive learning and web-based learning globally. Also study for to develop reliable and efficient solution for e-learners and e-content provider. This paper represent studies of learning style prediction, learning style model, learning system and analysis of related work in e-learning and web environments. This is review of previous research in e-learning prediction

Educational institutions are becoming involved in adopting technological innovations like th e mobile learning (m-Learning) platform for education. Mobile technologies are the next frontier as infrast ructure for m-Learning because they can provide high-quality learning capab ilities to satisfy the rising student demand for mobility and flexibility due to the ubiquitous nature of mobile tec hnology (smartphones) and the va st opportunities it offers, there ar e indications that smartphones could lead the next generation for learning platforms. Researchers have examin ed the idea from several angles and produced a copious amount of literature devoted to explaining the interrelationships of technology and learning. I n this research we aim to offer a view of students’ perspectives, giving a systema tic examination of m-Learning adoption that can be used as a framework for furt her research into the success of m-Learning. We found that making learning m ore interesting, increasing productivity, and providing internet ac cess had the greatest effect on student’s perceptions

The recent and rapid development of mobile devices and the increasing popularity of e learning have created a demand for mobile learning packages and environments. We have analyzed the possibilities of adapting the existing content for mobile devices, and have implemented two fundamentally different systems to satisfy the demand that has arisen. One of the systems creates e learning courses from existing materials and adapts them to the specified platform (this system realizes the functionalities of the Content Management System). The other system is a modified version of the Moodle Learning Management System, which can adapt existing courses right before displaying them. This paper discuses the fundamentals of e learning, the design considerations and investigates various methods of scalable video coding. Finally the realization details of the two systems are presented.

Might Apple’s new iPad gain unprecedented traction in education, or is just another example of the over-hyping of new devices in a time of technological determinism (Postman, 2000)? This paper explores the potential affordances and limitations of the Apple iPad in the wider context of emergent mobile learning theory, and the social and economic drivers that fuel technology development. Against the background of effective teaching and learning, the functionality offered by the iPad, and its potential uses for learning, are discussed. A critical review of the way the iPad may support learning, that draws on learning theory, contemporary articles and e-learning literature, suggests that the device may offer an exciting platform for consuming and creating content in a collaborative, interactive way. However, of greater importance is that effective, evidence-driven, innovative practices, combined with a clear-sighted assessment of the advantages and limitations of any product, should take priority over the device itself
