Measurement errors in recall food consumption data

    Get PDF
Recall food consumption data, which is the basis of a great deal of empirical work, is believed to suffer from considerable measurement error. Diary records are believed to be very accurate. We study a unique data set that collects recall and diary data from the same households. Measurement errors in recall food consumption data appear to be substantial, and they do not have the properties of classical measurement error. We also find evidence that the diary measures are themselves imperfect. We consider the implications of our findings for modelling demand, measuring inequality, and estimating inter-temporal preference parameters. “Triple Bottom Line” as “Sustainable Corporate Performance”: A Proposition for the Future

Based upon a review of corporate performance, corporate financial performance and corporate social performance, we propose that the concept of ―triple bottom line‖ (TBL) as ―sustainable corporate performance‖ (SCP) should consist of three measurement elements, namely: (i) financial, (ii) social and (iii) environmental. TBL as SCP is proposed to be derived from the interface between them. We also propose that the content of each of these measurement elements may vary across contexts and over time. Furthermore, TBL as SCR should be interpreted to be a relative concept that is dynamic and iterative. Continuous monitoring needs to be performed, adapting the content of the measurement elements to changes that evolve across contexts and over time in the marketplace and society. TBL as SCP may be seen as a function of time and context. Keywords: triple bottom line; sustainable corporate performance; corporate social performance; financial performanc

    Determinism in the one-way model

We introduce a flow condition on open graph states (graph states with inputs and outputs) which guarantees globally deterministic behavior of a class of measurement patterns defined over them. Dependent Pauli corrections are derived for all such patterns, which equalize all computation branches, and only depend on the underlying entanglement graph and its choice of inputs and outputs. The class of patterns having flow is stable under composition and tensorization, and has unitary embeddings as realizations. The restricted class of patterns having both flow and reverse flow, supports an operation of adjunction, and has all and only unitaries as realizations.Comment: 8 figures, keywords: measurement based quantum computing, deterministic computing; Published version, including a new section on circuit decompositio

The Utilization of Waste Shallot Skin (Allium Cepa L) as Natural Dyeing Material for Textile Product

Previous studies on the onion skin as a natural dye by Made Diah Angendari showing the colour of each mordant used a Jumputan and suggested using a different concentration of mordant in the next research. Based on it, interviews were conducted to three different speakers: KLP Nusantara, Mrs Kuswati, and Dapur Alifa. According to the interviewers, all can produce ±64 kg of onion skin per month and most of the onion skin were thrown or burned. Based on it, a research was done by using a variation of colouring matter, mordant measurement, dyeing technique, dyeing duration, and technique of textile to use plenty onion skin and develop technique on the natural dye of onion skin. To obtain the required data, the student collects the data with experimental methods, such as by observation, interview, literature study, and experimentation. The results of the elected experiment show that the used of iron post-mordanting and an hour cold dyeing technique have a good result based on the endurance of wear-off in Balai Besar Tekstil Bandung and it was applied to a textile product in the form of long cloth with different measurement. Robust and parsimonious realisations of unitaries in the one-way model

We present a new set of generators for unitary maps over \otimes^n(C^2) which differs from the traditional rotation-based generating set in that it uses a single-parameter family of 1-qubit unitaries J(a), together with a single 2-qubit unitary controlled-Z. Each generator is implementable in the one-way model using only two qubits, and this leads to both parsimonious and robust implementations of general unitaries. As an illustration, we give an implementation of the controlled-U family which uses only 14 qubits, and has a 2-colourable underlying entanglement graph (known to yield robust entangled states).Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures, keywords: unitary transformations, measurement-based quantum computin
