High resolution carbon isotope stratigraphy of the basal Silurian stratotype (Dob's Linn, Scotland) and its global correlation
Since its designation as the Global Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) for the base of the Silurian System, the choice of Dob's Linn, Southern Scotland, has received criticism due to the difficulties of relating its well constrained graptolite biostratigraphy to shallow water sequences elsewhere. Kerogen samples from across the Ordovician-Silurian boundary interval at Dob's Linn have yielded carbon stable isotope signatures consistent with those recorded elsewhere, in particular showing a clear positive δ13C excursion in the terminal Ordovician. The architecture of the δ13C curve from Dob's Linn enables very high resolution stratigraphic subdivision and direct correlation between the deep water Dob's Linn section and time equivalent carbonate shelf deposits. An integrated stratigraphic scheme using isotope stratigraphy and biostratigraphy of graptolites, conodonts and shelly faunas has been constructed. This direct correlation shows that the shallow water successions, including the former stratotype candidate at Anticosti Island, are generally incomplete, with hiatuses related to the rapid sea level changes during the Hirnantian stage. This confirms and greatly increases the global utility of Dob's Linn as a boundary stratotype

Pengaruh Lama Perendaman Biji Sengon (Paraserianthes Falcataria) Menggunakan Air Daun Sirih (Piper Betle Linn.) Terhadap Kualitas Benih
Paraserianthes falcataria are fast growing trees in the tropical and has many benefits economically. In order to avoid seeds of Paraserianthes falcataria not decrease the quality of seeds during storage. Seed treatment is necessary to keep the seeds able to survive until the time of planting by using Piper betle Linn. leaf as an antiseptic and disinfectant. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of submursion seeds in water Piper betle Linn. leaf on the quality of seed germination and to know the optimum time to submursion seeds in water Piper betle Linn. leaf to maintain the quality of seeds Paraserianthes falcataria. This research was conducted by using completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatments and 4 replications. Treatment consists of: P10 = Submursion seeds Paraserianthes falcataria use Piper betle Linn. leaf water for 10 minutes; P20 = Submursion seeds Paraserianthes falcataria use Piper betle Linn. leaf water for 20 minutes; P30 = Submursion seeds Paraserianthes falcataria use Piper betle Linn. leaf water for 30 minutes; P40 = Submursion seeds Paraserianthes falcataria use Piper betle Linn. leaf water for 40 minutes. Research has shown that submursion seeds with water Piper betle Linn. leaf is able to improve the quality of seeds Paraserianthes falcataria during storage and the optimal time of submursion seeds for 30 minutes is the best treatment on seed germination percentage (62%), speed seed germinated (3.05 days), and increase seedling height (6.44 cm)

POTENSI EKSTRAK BUNGA KLUWIH (Artocarpus altilis Linn) Sebagai Insektisida terhadap Kematian Nyamuk Aedes aegypti Linn dengan Metode Elektrik Cair
Demam berdarah dengue merupakan salah satu penyakit yang cukup berbahaya bagi kehidupan masyarakat yang ditularkan melalui gigitan nyamuk Ae.aegypti Linn. Di Indonesia, jumlah kasus DBD cenderung meningkat dari tahun ke tahun. Upaya pengendalian DBD salah satunya adalah penggunaan anti nyamuk. Salah satu tanaman yang bermanfaat sebagai insektisida alami adalah bunga kluwih (Artocarpus atilis Linn). Bunga kluwih mengandung flavonoid, saponin, polifenol yang bermanfaat sebagai insektisida nabati. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi ekstrak bunga kluwih (Artocarpus altilis Linn) sebagai insektisida terhadap kematian nyamuk Ae.aegypti Linn. Penelitian ini menggunakan true experiment dengan rancangan Randomized Control Trial. Metode pembuatan ekstrak bunga kluwih adalah maserasi. Jumlah sampel yang diuji sebanyak 720 nyamuk Ae.aegypti Linn umur 2-5 hari dengan masing-masing 20 nyamuk pada setiap unit perlakuan. Metode pengujian menggunakan metode elektrik cair dengan glass chamber. Penelitian dilakukan dalam 3 kali replikasi dengan menggunakan konsentrasi ekstrak bunga kluwih (Artocarpus altilis Linn) sebesar 17%, 24%, 32%, 73%, dan 96% menggunakan patokan LC50 ekstrak bunga kluwih. Berdasarkan analisis probit didapatkan LC50 ekstrak bunga kluwih yaitu 73%. Hasil analisis One Way ANOVA menunjukkan nilai signifikansinya 0,001 (p<0,05), H0 ditolak, yang menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan rata-rata kematian dari serial konsentrasi yang berbeda. Penggunaan ekstrak bunga kluwih dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif insektisida nabati dalam pengendalian vektor Ae.aegypti Linn karena terbukti memiliki potensi sebagai insektisida terhadap nyamuk Ae.aegypti Linn, dengan metode elektrik cair. Diharapkan dilakukan penelitian lanjutan menggunakan metode teknik yang lain seperti repellent, semprot dengan tingkat konsentrasi yang lebih besar.
