VITON: An Image-based Virtual Try-on Network
We present an image-based VIirtual Try-On Network (VITON) without using 3D
information in any form, which seamlessly transfers a desired clothing item
onto the corresponding region of a person using a coarse-to-fine strategy.
Conditioned upon a new clothing-agnostic yet descriptive person representation,
our framework first generates a coarse synthesized image with the target
clothing item overlaid on that same person in the same pose. We further enhance
the initial blurry clothing area with a refinement network. The network is
trained to learn how much detail to utilize from the target clothing item, and
where to apply to the person in order to synthesize a photo-realistic image in
which the target item deforms naturally with clear visual patterns. Experiments
on our newly collected Zalando dataset demonstrate its promise in the
image-based virtual try-on task over state-of-the-art generative models
Cycle-Consistent Deep Generative Hashing for Cross-Modal Retrieval
In this paper, we propose a novel deep generative approach to cross-modal
retrieval to learn hash functions in the absence of paired training samples
through the cycle consistency loss. Our proposed approach employs adversarial
training scheme to lean a couple of hash functions enabling translation between
modalities while assuming the underlying semantic relationship. To induce the
hash codes with semantics to the input-output pair, cycle consistency loss is
further proposed upon the adversarial training to strengthen the correlations
between inputs and corresponding outputs. Our approach is generative to learn
hash functions such that the learned hash codes can maximally correlate each
input-output correspondence, meanwhile can also regenerate the inputs so as to
minimize the information loss. The learning to hash embedding is thus performed
to jointly optimize the parameters of the hash functions across modalities as
well as the associated generative models. Extensive experiments on a variety of
large-scale cross-modal data sets demonstrate that our proposed method achieves

A Comprehensive Survey of Deep Learning in Remote Sensing: Theories, Tools and Challenges for the Community
In recent years, deep learning (DL), a re-branding of neural networks (NNs),
has risen to the top in numerous areas, namely computer vision (CV), speech
recognition, natural language processing, etc. Whereas remote sensing (RS)
possesses a number of unique challenges, primarily related to sensors and
applications, inevitably RS draws from many of the same theories as CV; e.g.,
statistics, fusion, and machine learning, to name a few. This means that the RS
community should be aware of, if not at the leading edge of, of advancements
like DL. Herein, we provide the most comprehensive survey of state-of-the-art
RS DL research. We also review recent new developments in the DL field that can
be used in DL for RS. Namely, we focus on theories, tools and challenges for
the RS community. Specifically, we focus on unsolved challenges and
opportunities as it relates to (i) inadequate data sets, (ii)
human-understandable solutions for modelling physical phenomena, (iii) Big
Data, (iv) non-traditional heterogeneous data sources, (v) DL architectures and
learning algorithms for spectral, spatial and temporal data, (vi) transfer
learning, (vii) an improved theoretical understanding of DL systems, (viii)

Scene Graph Generation with External Knowledge and Image Reconstruction
Scene graph generation has received growing attention with the advancements
in image understanding tasks such as object detection, attributes and
relationship prediction,~\etc. However, existing datasets are biased in terms
of object and relationship labels, or often come with noisy and missing
annotations, which makes the development of a reliable scene graph prediction
model very challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel scene graph
generation algorithm with external knowledge and image reconstruction loss to
overcome these dataset issues. In particular, we extract commonsense knowledge
from the external knowledge base to refine object and phrase features for
improving generalizability in scene graph generation. To address the bias of
noisy object annotations, we introduce an auxiliary image reconstruction path
to regularize the scene graph generation network. Extensive experiments show
that our framework can generate better scene graphs, achieving the
state-of-the-art performance on two benchmark datasets: Visual Relationship
