InSPeCT: Integrated Surveillance for Port Container Traffic
This paper describes a fully-operational content-indexing and management system, designed for monitoring and profiling freight-based vehicular traffic in a seaport environment. The 'InSPeCT' system captures video footage of passing vehicles and uses tailored OCR to index the footage according to vehicle license plates and freight codes. In addition to real-time functionality such as alerting, the system provides advanced search techniques for the efficient retrieval of records, where each vehicle is profiled according to multi-angled video, context information, and links to external information sources. Currently being piloted at a busy national seaport, the feedback from port officials indicates the system to be extremely useful in supplementing their existing transportation-security structures
Magnetic field mapper
Magnetic field mapper locates imperfections in cadmium sulphide solar cells by detecting and displaying the variations of the normal component of the magnetic field resulting from current density variations. It can also inspect for nonuniformities in other electrically conductive materials
Hyperfine Splitting and the Zeeman Effect in Holographic Heavy-Light Mesons
We inspect the mass spectrum of heavy-light mesons in deformed N=2 super
Yang-Mills theory using the AdS/CFT correspondence. We demonstrate how some of
the degeneracies of the supersymmetric meson spectrum can be removed upon
breaking the supersymmetry, thus leading to the emergence of hyperfine
structure. The explicit SUSY breaking scenarios we consider involve on one hand
tilting one of the two fundamental D7 branes inside the internal R^6 space, and
on the other hand applying an external magnetic field on the (untilted) branes.
The latter scenario leads to the well-known Zeeman effect, which we inspect for
both weak and strong magnetic fields.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figur
Nondestructive testing of brazed rocket engine components
Report details study made of nondestructive radiographic, ultrasonic, thermographic, and leak test methods used to inspect and evaluate the quality of the various brazed joints in liquid-propellant rocket engine components and assemblies. Descriptions of some of the unique equipment and methods developed are included
Deep inelastic production at HERA in the -factorization approach and its consequences for the nonrelativistic QCD
In the framework of the -factorization approach, we analyse the
inclusive and inelastic production of particles in deep inelastic
scattering. We take into account both colour-singlet and colour-octet
production channels. We inspect the sensitivity of theoretical predictions to
the choice of model parameters. Our theoretical results agree reasonably well
with recent experimental data collected by the collaboration H1 at HERA.Comment: 14 pages, 6 figure
Data-mining Based Expert Platform for the Spectral Inspection
We propose and preliminarily implement a data-mining based platform to assist
experts to inspect the increasing amount of spectra with low signal to noise
ratio (SNR) generated by large sky surveys. The platform includes three layers:
data-mining layer, data-node layer and expert layer. It is similar to the
GalaxyZoo project and VO-compatible. The preliminary experiment suggests that
this platform can play an effective role in managing the spectra and assisting
the experts to inspect a large number of spectra with low SNR.Comment: techniques: photometric, methods: data analysis, catalog
A visual feedback system for micromanipulation with stereoscopic microscope
A stereoscopic microscope is widely used in a micromanipulation such as to operate genes and to inspect integration circuits. As in these tasks the micromanipulation is handled and makes too heavy burden to operators, it is desirable to perform the micromanipulation automatically. In this paper, we propose a visual feedback system for micromanipulation with stereoscopic microscope. This system takes less time to control the manipulator by reducing searching area to detect an object </p
