Vehicle infrastructure cooperative localization using Factor Graphs
Highly assisted and Autonomous Driving is dependent on the accurate localization of both the vehicle and other targets within the environment. With increasing traffic on roads and wider proliferation of low cost sensors, a vehicle-infrastructure cooperative localization scenario can provide improved performance over traditional mono-platform localization. The paper highlights the various challenges in the process and proposes a solution based on Factor Graphs which utilizes the concept of topology of vehicles. A Factor Graph represents probabilistic graphical model as a bipartite graph. It is used to add the inter-vehicle distance as constraints while localizing the vehicle. The proposed solution is easily scalable for many vehicles without increasing the execution complexity. Social Network Reciprocity as a Phase Transition in Evolutionary Cooperation
In Evolutionary Dynamics the understanding of cooperative phenomena in
natural and social systems has been the subject of intense research during
decades. We focus attention here on the so-called "Lattice Reciprocity"
mechanisms that enhance evolutionary survival of the cooperative phenotype in
the Prisoner's Dilemma game when the population of darwinian replicators
interact through a fixed network of social contacts. Exact results on a "Dipole
Model" are presented, along with a mean-field analysis as well as results from
extensive numerical Monte Carlo simulations. The theoretical framework used is
that of standard Statistical Mechanics of macroscopic systems, but with no
energy considerations. We illustrate the power of this perspective on social
modeling, by consistently interpreting the onset of lattice reciprocity as a
thermodynamical phase transition that, moreover, cannot be captured by a purely

Resilience of Traffic Networks with Partially Controlled Routing
This paper investigates the use of Infrastructure-To-Vehicle (I2V)
communication to generate routing suggestions for drivers in transportation
systems, with the goal of optimizing a measure of overall network congestion.
We define link-wise levels of trust to tolerate the non-cooperative behavior of
part of the driver population, and we propose a real-time optimization
mechanism that adapts to the instantaneous network conditions and to sudden
changes in the levels of trust. Our framework allows us to quantify the
improvement in travel time in relation to the degree at which drivers follow
the routing suggestions. We then study the resilience of the system, measured
as the smallest change in routing choices that results in roads reaching their
maximum capacity. Interestingly, our findings suggest that fluctuations in the
extent to which drivers follow the provided routing suggestions can cause
failures of certain links. These results imply that the benefits of using
Infrastructure-To-Vehicle communication come at the cost of new fragilities,
that should be appropriately addressed in order to guarantee the reliable

In this scheme, the links in the network infrastructure are enabled or disabled depending on their contribution to the overall system performance. As a consequence, the local controllers are divided dynamically into sets or coalitions that cooperate in order to attain their control tasks. The new design method allows the control system designer to include new constraints regarding the game theoretical tools of the control architecture, while optimizing the matrices that define the controller
